Give me some feedback and tell me who you guys like and why
Derrek Sherrod, OT, Mississippi State
Great athleticism, pretty good size. Probably a better fit at LT, but I don't see him as polished enough to be a day 1 starter there. Because of this, I wouldn't take him. If we're picking in that 8-15 range, I definately trade down.
Anthony Castonzo, OT, Boston College
Definately built like a LT, but his athleticism will be questioned. Boston College has a history of producing good linemen (we drafted the exception in James Marten, not the rule). If he is viewed as a RT only, he will be good in time, but will need to add some weight (atleast 10 lbs). I'd consider him after 15.
DeMarcus Love, OT, Arkansas
Has split time at guard and tackle while at Arkansas. I think his NFL future is at RT, not LT. Has prototypical size for a RT imo. Not to tall, and a proportional amount of girth to go with it. I'd consider Love in the 20s.
Nate Solder, OT, Colorado
Former tight-end, but similar to the other prospects, will likely be a RT. I think he has the best shot of being a LT (other than Sherrod), but he isn't as polished as Castonzo, so while I think he can start early at RT, it will take time before he is ready to move to the left side. I'd likely take him over Love, but not till the 20s.
Gabe Camiri, OT, Wisconsin
Best lineman on the best o-line in college. Definately not a LT prospect and is a RT only (too tall to play inside), so the bust factor is high. However, he's very polished, has great size and toughness. He's the guy I want to play RT for us, but I would wait till round 2 before I touched him.
Marcus Cannon, OT, TCU
Gotta admit I'm not a big fan of his. I think 350 is just too big and shows a lack of commitment. However if he shows up to the senior bowl (I'm assuming he gets an invite) at a legit 6'5 and under 335 pounds, I can see him sneaking into round 1. Not a bad athlete for his size, but definately not a LT. Could move inside to guard, but at 350 I wouldn't draft him.
Orlando Franklin, OT, Miami
Has play both guard and tackle, but he should play tackle in the pros. Considering he played inside for 3 years I assume he lacks the athleticism to play LT in the pros, but I could be wrong. Has the size your looking for in a LT or RT. Could also sneak into rd 1 if his impresses at the combine.
Mike Brewster, C, Ohio State
If he comes out I think he'll be the top interior lineman taken. Great size, 3 year starter at center and a great athlete. Like most center prospects, he could play guard till we're ready to move Gurode, but Brewster could go in round 1, so I don't think he's a good match for us.
Stefen Wisniewski, C/G, Penn State
Doesn't have elite size like Brewster, but at 6-3 still has good size. 3 year starter at Penn State, will be a day 1 starter where ever he goes at which ever position coaches decide to play him at. I would take him at the top of the 2nd round.
Rodney Hudson, OG, Florida State
Top rated guard prospect on cbssports, but imo he's too small for the type of guard we want. Maybe in a zone blocking scheme, but at 6-2, there's only so much weight he can add to his sub 285lb frame before he loses athleticism. Possibly on a pass heavy team, but hopefully not here.
Michael Pouncey, OG, Florida
He great size for a guard and is a very good athlete as well. His biggest knocks are, he isn't his brother and he's not a center. Can get to the second level in run blocking and can get to the outside on tosses and screens. I would target him in the mid-to late second round.
Stephen Schilling, OG, Michigan
Another guy with good size and athleticism. Michigan is another school that produces good linemen. Definately wouldn't mind him taking over for Kosier at LG. Similar to Pouncey, I'd target him in the bottom half of round 2.
John Moffitt, G/C, Wisconsin
Started his career at guard, played some center and then moved back to guard. I really like Wisconsin's o-line and would consider taking Moffitt late in round 2 if we traded sown or early in round 3. Really like his size, would be interested to see his workout numbers, but he's definately a monster in the run game.
Kristofer O’Dowd, C, USC
I would really only conider him if we missed out on the above mentioned guards and centers (minus Hudson). Has a lot of experience at center, and could also play guard, but he has really struggled staying healthy.
