we have 20 days to kill and need a topic we can all sink our teeth into...

So how about breaking down the divison

maybe ranking positions..

I guess I will start...

I think the Eagles are still the top of the division but not by much and it isn't the Cowboys but the Giants that may push them off their perch...I see the division breaking down like this

Eagles
Giants
Skins
Cowboys

Now I better explain why the Cowboys are last...when I think they are a better team than last year...I think too many moving parts for it all to come together...new coaches, players, schemes.. I just don't see how they hope to juggle all of them when one is usually enough to have to deal with

Positional break down

QB

Eagles - Mcnabb-much better job ot throwing the ball than in years past
Skins - Ramsey..really like Ramsey..good kid and tough too
Giants - Manning stunk up the joint last year and would be last on the list
but I expect he will have improved and it won't take much to
improve over who the Cowboys are planning to start

Cowboys - Bledsoe real down on this move..imho would have been better
with VT than letting the young-uns take over...I think Bledsoe
sets the Cowboys back by 3 years

RB

Giants - Tiki got that fumbling problem fixed it looks like
Skins - Portis had a hard time with an awful O-line but still got good
production
Eagles - Westbrook a very good all around back lacks power though
Cowboys - JJ could move up to the top of this list but his durability
is a huge question

WR

Giants - with the addition of Burress they have BIG targets
Eagles - with owens with out they drop to last
Cowboys - Key and Glenn still getting it done but age a concern
Commanders - regardless of what the fans say it looks like a lesser group than
last year

TE

Cowboys - Witten may not be as physically gifted as shockey but has a
much better head on his shoulders
Giants - Shockey this receiving corp of NY looks tough

Skins- Cooley a try hard guy

Eagles - Lewis more hype than substance

OL

this is tough because of people coming back from injuries and speculation..you could easily rate the Cowboys 1st or last and have good reasons to do both

so I am gonna say their all even and cop out

if some response pour in with this one I might try the Defense

lets talk it up folks we have 20 days to burn

If the defensive rookies pan out the way they should there is NO way that we finish last. Bledsoe can hold his ground at quarterback at least this year, and JJ will break through and become one of, if not the best running backs in the NFL. The secondary is vastly improved, and factor that in with the expected boost in pass rush and that defense has a chance to be scary. It is ridiculous to think we finish last...

How about that the Rookies being not NFL ready or even if they can play in this league .. or that Vets switching positions would have the same or near the same production which again may not be the case...We also will have no leader on the defense at the first of the season because those who would/could lead are switching/learning a new position...Plus most of these guys have never played with each other so they must build a coehsiveness and chemistry with each other...those are just a few of the many things that could go wrong

You give Ramsey and Eli too much credit, while you give bledsoe to little. He is on par at least with those other scrubs.
RB

JJ should be third and will blow the other two out of the water next year. In half the games, jj had a higher ypc and more tds than portis, and he was a rookie. Tiki was great last season. As an all around back he could very well outperform jj. But he is getting up there in age so you can never know. Westbrook is a reciever, he doesn't have the durablility to get 20 carries per game.
WR

Giants - with the addition of Burress they have BIG targets
Eagles - with owens with out they drop to last
Cowboys - Key and Glenn still getting it done but age a concern
Commanders - regardless of what the fans say it looks like a lesser group than

Agreed
TE

Cowboys - Witten may not be as physically gifted as shockey but has a
much better head on his shoulders
Giants - Shockey this receiving corp of NY looks tough

Skins- Cooley a try hard guy

Eagles - Lewis more hype than substance
Lewis is still better than cooley though

Overall:
1. Philly
2. Dallas
3. Skins
4. Giants

QB:
1. McNabb--Detractors aside he's by far the best QB in a QB weak division.
2. Bledsoe--Not a world beater by any stretch but more accurate than Eli or Ramsey and much more experienced.
3. Manning--Still a pup but should pass Ramsey who is dead man walking with Campbell in the wings.
4. Ramsey--Woefully inaccurate and arm strength a real question mark.

RB:
1. Westbrook et al--I expect Moats to lend a real hand to Westbrook making them a strong 3 down duo.
2. Barber--Fumbled less and proved durable. Very good all around player.
3. Portis--Very good back but ego is out of control and offensive scheme is a mismatch for his skillset.
4. JJ--JJ is very good but this si a ridiculously deep position in the NFCE. All these teams are at least at an 8 on a 10 point scale.

WR/TE:
1. Giants--Burress and Shockey are woefully inconsistent but possess excellent explosive ability. Toomer is consistent if less dangerous.
2. Dallas--KJ, Glenn, Witten provide three very good targets but depth is huge concern.
3. Eagles--TO who is mad; and who??
4. Commanders--Very weak group whose best player would be no more than a 2nd WR for any other NFCE team. All in all NFCE WR corps are weak.

OL:
1. Eagles--Very good run blocking group who doesn't need stellar pass protection because of McNabb.
2. Dallas--Most raw talent on OL of any NFCE team but Flozell and LA must be consistent and Rivera must be healthy. Should have best OG's in the division and just 2 years ago Flo was best LT.
3. Skins--Lots of talent but production has suffered thru scheme change and injuries. Some overrated talent issues as well.
4. Giants--Patchwork OL that has struggled to protect the QB at all.

That's the offense what about the defense?

DL- Filthy
Boys
G-Men
Skins

Kearse, Simon and Kalu are all solid players and their deep. We are second IMO Ellis, Fergie, and Glover holds it down for us. Strahan and company are solid. Skins DLine are servicable nothing special.

LB- Skins
Filthy
Boys
G-men

Washington is a good one and Arrington has talent just erractic. Trottier had a good year. Dat is my boy but we have alot of unknowns, we do have talent. G-men LB's is the biggest question of their defense.

Secondary- Filthy
Boys
Skins
G-men

Brown, Dawkins, Sheppard and Lewis are good ar there is. With Henry, Glenn and Reese along with Terrance and Roy we've got pieces. Springs played like his draft status but I got a feeling he's going to be like he's been in the past (injured) Taylor great athlete physically but mentally about as stable as (Iron Mike) G-Men has talent as well. Peterson and Allen hasn't been better for whatever reason. Shaun Williams has disappointed.

I will make a bold and outlandish prediction: We will sweep the Washington Commanders, at which time their fans will immediatly harp in "next year, we are going to beat your a**es twice!!!!"

the Commanders will be last.

the iggles are probably still the team to beat, but if t.o. holds out...who knows. even if he doesn't, history says the iggles time will run out soon.

why not this year?

dallas and nyg could go either way. i could see both being good or bad.
