Pacman Jones will be allowed to participte in the Cowboys' OTA practices this week.
IRVING, Texas - When the Cowboys take the field Tuesday for the third week of OTA practices, it's likely not every player will be participating.
One player who is expected to be there is Adam "Pacman" Jones.
After serving a one-year suspension for violating the NFL's conduct policy, Jones has been reinstated by Commissioner Roger Goodell, although on a limited basis.
Goodell is allowing Jones to participate in the OTA (organized team activities), which begin Tuesday at Valley Ranch, running through Thursday. Jones will also be allowed to participate in training camp and the preseason games.
However, a final determination on Jones' full reinstatement has not been announced. It's possible the cornerback could miss some of the 2008 regular season. Goodell informed Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on Monday that a final announcement on Pacman's status will be issued before Sept. 1.
"This limited reinstatement is a step in the process," Jerry Jones said in a statement. "Adam is aware of the things that need to be done in order to take the next step."
The Cowboys sent out a release Monday stating that Goodell has told Pacman Jones: "That his continued participation inn the NFL depends on demonstrating that he can conduct himself in a lawful and reliable manner.
Jones will be expected to continue the personal conduct program that has been established for him by the NFL and the Cowboys to avoid further adverse involvement with law enforcement." Since being drafted by the Titans in 2005, Jones has been arrested six different times on a variety of charges.

Where did he say he couldn't? He clearly says final decision before September 1st, which is before we play Cleveland.reddyuta;2102317 said:Eatman is wrong -if pacman doesnt screw up from now and sep 1 then he will play in cleveland.

Because it has been speculated that Pacman might still be suspended for the first 2 games of the season.reddyuta;2102337 said:"It's possible the cornerback could miss some of the 2008 regular season. Cowboys cornerback Pacman Jones has received permission from the NFL to participate in offseason workouts, training camp, and the preseason. However, he has not yet been reinstated to participate in regular-season games.
The NFL said as follows, via a statement: “In a letter to Jones, Commissioner Goodell wrote that a final determination on his reinstatement for the 2008 regular season will be made by September 1. Commissioner Goodell told Jones that his continued participation in the NFL depends on demonstrating that he can conduct himself in a lawful and reliable manner. Jones will be expected to continue the personal conduct program established for him by the NFL and the Cowboys and to avoid further adverse involvement with law enforcement.”
In other words, if Jones stays out of trouble between now and September 1, he’ll be permitted to participate in regular-season games. This halfway-house-type move makes sense; if Pacman gets in trouble again, he simply doesn’t get back in — and the league doesn’t look foolish for taking a chance on him prematurely.
There’s also a belief in some league circles that Pacman’s presence on the team owned by Jerry Jones helped grease the skids for Pacman’s return. Commissioner Roger Goodell reports to the 32 NFL owners, and few have as much juice as Jerry Jones.
