Breece Hall coming to Dallas rumors

Honestly, the Wright pick was SOOOOO wrong that all of us on the zone hated it. It was a major turd of a pick . The great DQ must have been on the sauce that day.
He saw a Richard Sherman starting kit, but not all 6-4 cornerbacks are created equal.

Trade 3.76 to the Detroit Lions for WR Jameson Williams

Lions wideout Jameson Williams has been rumored to be available, would a third-round pick get it done? With so many holes for Dallas, giving up the 76th overall pick may not feel like proper compensation for the 1,000-yard receiver who was recently slapped with a fifth-year option.

Dallas would have to address Williams' contract situation eventually, but they'd have the same scenario they did when they acquired Amari Cooper from the Raiders, with two years to evaluate.

Trade 3.76 to Jets for 5.145 and running back Breece Hall

Like Williams above, Jets running back Breece Hall is also entering his fourth NFL season, but unlike the Lions wideout, Hall was taken in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft. This means, barring a tag or an extension, Hall will hit unrestricted free agency in 2026.

This uncommonly deep RB class of 2025 may prevent teams from valuing the veteran running back as much as he should, but this swap gives Dallas a young lead back without hindering the ability to draft another.

Yep.. He’s basically Christian McCaffrey.

Same skill set.

His weakness is about like McCaffreys too. He will get dinged up.
At best, Hall is a poor man’s McAfrrey. Here’s the problem with Breece Hall. His per-carry avg has gone down every year since his excellent rookie season.

Much like our FA vet RBs we acquired so far, Hall was coming off a major knee injury in 2022 and has struggled off and on to get back to what he was. Even last year, he missed some time with that knee.
Look at this article from the jets website last Dec: https://www.newyorkjets.com/news/breece-hall-struggling-with-knee-injury

Although during the 2023 season, he finished 4th in all purpose yards, he struggled mightily last year. Hall is starting the last year of his rookie deal with the Jets in 2025. There's a reason the jets are shopping him.

I say we need to pass on this guy and draft someone.

I’m not sure he is available but for a 5th, I believe he is WAY better than we could get using our 5th pick.

While true his Y/A have dropped, his rookie year (‘22) was only 80 carries, so I consider that somewhat of an outlier. The difference between ‘23 & ‘24 was 4.5 v. 4.2.

Hall has only had 3 games in his career with >20 carries but is a big play threat who has also averaged close to 70 receptions the last 2 seasons.

IMO, the risk/reward for a 5th is excellent and would be too good to pass up if it were truly on the table. As far as a contract, I can’t imagine he will command a high value.

Good response.

Where I disagree is getting Hall in his last year of his rookie contract means he could just be a short term rental unless JJ changes how he handles most second contracts. Agree if they can get him for a 5th round compensatory pick it might be ok. Just ok.

I would think NY would be crazy to be asking for much more than a 5th for the exact reasons you mentioned. A likely 1 year rental RB can't come with a ton of market value. I'd love to see a Hall/Blue/Williams backfield. Thats something I could get excited over.

I could also see the Cowboys shopping either an edge or interior OL guy for a back as well given the depth they have. That could be why Jerry talked about a trade possibly happening after the draft.

I agree it’s possible it could be a short term rental and if that is the case, I am out.

I really don’t know what his $ value might be next year at his current production. I would hope that if Jerry is willing to give up draft capital, he would be willing to commit longer term if Hall produces. Jerry does seem to covet his picks but he can also be a wild card.

So I guess my opinion is based on whether a productive Hall will be re-signed or not.

Why would you trade for a guy almost off his rookie deal instead of getting a rookie on a 4 yr contract? This makes no sense. Breece Hall isnt even that good.

He has more receiving yards in his career than any WR not named lamb on this roster.
