Breer on a potential Cowboys curveball

Look, I like Zabel a lot, and think he's going to be a solid player, guaranteed.

But really?
It's what they said about Martin. And Frederick.

Then later, Cole Strange.

If they do it, hopefully he's closer to Martin. He wasn't even on my radar, but I like the player now that I've taken a gander at him.

Broaddus said Booker is more likely than any of the other linemen to be drafted if the Cowboys decided to go that way in round one. Broaddus claims to have more information so you will hear more stuff tomorrow and Wednesday. I expect to hear a bunch of names connected to the Cowboys before the draft.

I still believe they want to trade down for a better salary slot and to get at least an extra 3rd. So that would put more players on their radar.
Could be them trying to fake out teams to entice them to trade up.

Very difficult draft eval. I'm almost just done with it. Lol

The only thing I believe is the Cowboys want to trade down. They are all about saving money on a salary slot.
Probably why they're sending out 15 different signals. I kinda like it.

Makes it tough for teams to guess what we're doing.

It's also about pre-draft grades, too, though, most likely. Lots of teams looking to trade down. Not many up, I suspect. Meat of this draft is late 1st through 5th.

There haven't been many people pounding the table for offensive lineman
Exactly why I would not rule it out... Especially if one of the top three or four are there at 12
Remember Steven Jones won't say it you like to think you can get up to 8 to 10 years from a top 10 to 15 pick

Where did you get that from my response?
There have been all kinds of people talking that we need to rebuild a dominant offensive and defensive line and that’s where all our draft picks should go. So that is what I was referring to. They have talked how Schottenheimer‘s plan to build from the outside in is wrong. So here is discussion about improving one of our lines and the guy is considered to be a top 20 pick by most of the sources I have seen so it isn’t like this is a complete out of the blue reach.

Again, it’s not what I would do, but it’s not like it is completely out of the question.

So my question is. Say we pick him. Where do we play him? G, T, or C? Obviously, we have needs at all three.

This, plus some whispers the team likes Simmons, or even Booker, has me thinking we might be turning our noses up at all the skill positions to just play it safe and take an O lineman.
If we draft him it means Guyton or Steele are trade bait immediately. He's not a guard. He's a pure tackle. Very good.

I don't have a problem with the player. I have a problem with the team investing more premium resources into the oline. We have about 6 other spots that need attn before OL.

Not gonna argue with that philosophy. There is not much difference between the 10th and 44th player supposedly. I just want a well thought out plan. No more Mazi, Guyton, Schoonmaker, or Kneeland reaches with early picks. Draft players that can play. If it’s a running back, front seven players or an offensive linemen so be it. As long as they can play.

The only thing worse than pumping another high resource into the OL at 12 is doing a massive reach for OL at 12.

Daniel Jerimiah said last week that he is hearing O-line for Dallas at 12.
