Been saying we will need the D to carry us the first 5-6 games......

Tyron Smith’s injury is probably the preseason’s most significant. The Cowboys’ left tackle won’t be back for months after tearing his hamstring, and this really is a worst-case scenario for Dallas. And since Smith hasn’t played a full season without injury since 2015, and has played in a total of just 13 games over the past two years, it’s fair to point the finger at the team for its readiness situation with its 31-year-old, eight-time Pro Bowler. First-rounder Tyler Smith would be the logical candidate to kick out to left tackle after competing through camp at guard—even though he was seen as raw and, by some, as a tackle/guard tweener before the draft. If not him, then flipping Terence Steele from right tackle would make some sense, too. Either way, the Cowboys are now perilously thin along the line and have to be crossing their fingers that Smith’s longtime linemate Zack Martin can stay healthy. It’s also an issue that compounds the team’s questions at receiver, where they’ll likely be without Michael Gallup and James Washington for the opener. The best case here is that Dallas can lean on its defense to tread water early as the offense gets healthier. But that won’t be easy with the Buccaneers, Bengals, Eagles and Rams on the schedule over the season’s first six weeks. The stretch between now and Halloween’s going to be interesting for Jerry’s crew.

The defense may be improved we’ll just have to see but I don’t see the D carrying us for several games. If the offense isn’t generating production leading to points we’re going to be in trouble. If we leave the defense on the field too long it’s going to lead to a long season. All the rules promote scoring and you have to put up a lot of points in the NFL if you’re going to win games. We can’t rely on the defense to get takeaways every week and hold down some of these elite QBs we’ll be facing.

The offense should rely on dak. He's the leader, he's the qb. He has a hof rg, 1st round pick lt/lg, top 5 pick rb, top backup rb, 1st round wr. Top 5 Stat te last year.
If that's not enough to work with while the rest of the offense gets healthy then we need a new qb.

The defense is going to be the best unit for the entire season. Forget the first month of the season. Try 17 games.

Our o-line is in shambles. Period. Expecting your QB to carry the o-line is insane. Everything starts in the trenches. When the trenches start at your QB, he isn't going to have much luck. The way you've written your whole post is laying the blame for any lack of success solely on the QB.

If what you wrote is true, then I'm sure you were touting Dak all last year when we were winning. If he was the leader, and gets any blame for not winning this year, then surely you gave him all the credit last year when they were winning...right?

Crazy to think Zach Martin is older than Tyron! :omg:
Yeah I always found that strange. Younger then Martin and has missed significantly more games do to injury then Martin but has still as of now has 24 more career starts then him (most non-cowboy fans would be like "damn how did he do that ? He must of joined the NFL at 19 years old")

Everything you said is correct... but Dak, our leader need an offensive line wbo can block for him. Even the best quarterbacks in the game aren't much help if they don't have time to drop back and pass. Just ask Mahomes what its like not to have time to throw.... and that was in the Superbowl.

Why is everyone so sure that Tyler Smith can't perform the LT position? Is so unimaginable that he might be fine there?

Can already see it....Smith is so bad...they turn to Steele week 2....and it's even worse.

The right move is to bite the bullet and go get Fisher..no matter how much it costs
Somebody needs to get in Jerry's ear and get this done fast

Man, Breer really drowned us with insight there. The offense is probably going to have a significant dropoff with no depth (possibly not enough starters) at WR and OL. As a result Dallas better hope that the defense plays well.

If only Fish had that kind of analysis for $19.95 a month.

umm maybe a little sense but most NONsense..you can Not have a smooth running O without and OL , i mean bets case is a strong run game but can the OL do that because without a Run game they can make it tough on a passing game. Those are facts., not sure what game youve been watching but the trenches are very importantly and right now OL is shaky,. Cant expect to run a passing game without a run game. Hopefully they can at least start with strong run game with 2 TE sets maybe even 3, and use gadget quick hitting pass pays to keep the defense honest ie Pollard and trurpin this can be accomplished. but if we cant run we wont be able to pass those are the facts of football. the defense will recognize they can stop the run easily and just ignore it while playing max coverage and making life difficult Getting to the qb with just 4 men..
please stop putting this all on the QB. i didn't see Aikman and smith doing much until we assembled a HOF OL..KEEP that straight..
