IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent missed his second straight day of practice with a calf injury suffered on Wednesday and is doubtful for Sunday’s first-place matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Cowboys will take the decision up until game time, but the chances of him playing are slim with such a short time to recover and the need to have as many healthy defensive linemen as possible.

good grief....what is it with the defense and injuries the last couple of years

just like the LB we signed from Jax after the London game...plays against us, gets cut, we sign him, he gets hurt and has yet to play.....mind boggling

Now for the good news:
Rookie defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence is probable with a rib injury and should play after missing the Dec. 4 meeting against the Chicago Bears. Cornerback Tyler Patmon will also return to the lineup after missing the past three games with knee and ankle injuries. Patmon and safety Jeff Heath are probable. Heath has missed the past two games following thumb surgery.

That...really sucks.

Yeah, it does.

Brent could have been a difference-maker for the DL play against a QB that that can make some mistakes if he gets rattled.

That was my critical factor regarding our ability to win this one -- their OL against our DL.

Maybe a healthy RoMac can take up the slack........and maybe Carter will play like he wants a contract........and maybe Melton will return to form.

I'd like to see our coaches outsmart the other guys, too. And perhaps monkeys will fly outta my butt.

I guess it's all on Romo, as usual.

Honestly... better him than Melton or Crawford. He is a backup that hasn't really played in several years, and only had 2 tackles last week and 1.5 sacks in his whole career. Why are we acting like he is the second coming of Randy White?

Very upset!! Brent won't get you sacks but he ties up the middle and frees up everyone else to and he snuffs the run.

No big loss. At his weight and the Eagles fast past offense, he'd be gasping for air anyways.

He's fat and out of shape. Typical pre season injury..
