Brett Lorenzo Favre is now tied for first place in career playoff interceptions thrown!

The planets have aligned and the Gods have smiled upon us! Thanks to a weak division with horrible competition and an easy schedule, and despite Lorenzo gaining the all time career interception record, the Packers have made it to the playoffs! This will be Favre’s chance to gain another treasured record, most career playoff interceptions thrown! Currently, Favre is tied for second place with 26 career playoff interceptions (Terry Bradshaw also has 26), and is a mere three interceptions from gaining the top spot from the reigning champion Jim Kelly (Kelly has 28).

While it is likely that Favre will thrown the necessary three interceptions during the first quarter of the first playoff game, this is where we will keep track of this amazing career milestone. Go get ‘em Brett!

Special thanks to Action Jackson for pointing out that since 1998 Lorenzo’s playoff record is 3-6 with an unbelievable 18 interceptions thrown. I can’t imagine Jim Kelly will be in the top spot for long!

Update! (1-21-08)

On January 20th, 2008 versus the New York Football Giants, Favre completes a pass early in the 4th quarter to Robert McQuarters, cornerback for the Giants. McQuarters then promptly fumbles the ball back to the Packers helping to spare Favre from further humiliation. Then on the second play in overtime, Lorenzo shows his true skills and completes a pass to Corey Webster, cornerback for the Giants, tying the career playoff interception mark of 28, and sealing his team’s fate to go home with yet another loss in the playoffs. You are the absolute greatest Favre!
