We drafted Gurode to play center. He then had to play guard due to the obscene amount of injuries in '02. Parcells kept him there until '05. I like Parcells and all, but he really didn't straighten Gurode out, he just got him playing the position that we drafted for anyway and it took awhile and he still wanted to start Al Johnson over Gurode.

When Bill Parcells came aboard, he didn't think Andre Gurode could be his center and admitted as much.

That is why the team bypassed on selecting Jason Witten in the second round back in '03 and went with Al Johnson.

Tuna thought Gurode was a guard.

Gurode was what Parcells called a "distractable player" and it nearly cost him his spot on the roster. Gurode's best friend on the team was Torrin Tucker, a talented lineman who was also "distractable."

Parcells later said that getting kid of Tucker finally allowed the light to come on for Gurode and he was moved back to center on a one year deal to compete with Johnson.

The rest is history.

As for rookie tackle Robert Brewster, it's probably a long shot to expect him to come back and make the active roster this season. But the coaches and trainers are giving him the chance, they have been impressed with his work so far.

Wade Phillips didn't hesitate to say that Brewster was "going to be a player" during the presser when the PUP move was announced.

Hudson Houck's track record with O-Linemen is about as good as it gets. If he tells me he likes Doug Free, than I'm confident that Free is going to be a solid starter. If he tells me that he really likes Brewster (which he seemed to do so before he got hurt and putting him on the PUP list further indicates this), then I'm confident Brewster will be a good player for us.

Stuff happens and in Brewster's case, you don't know how he's going to handle injuries, but the reality of 'past history' is that Houck is arguably the greatest O-Line coach that ever lived and has had a fantastic history of drafting O-Linemen, particularly WITH DALLAS back in the 90's.

When Free was in there briefly when Adams got hurt on Monday, was Peppers on the field? I think he only had one play, but he blocked well on it.

I play the odds.

Drafted offensive lineman by the Cowboys are JAGS until proven legit.

We've drafted one legit O-lineman in the last 10 years. One.

Excuse me from being cautious.

Being cautious and being a jerk about stuff are two different things...
