Good faith question here. Do you think Broderick Jones is an upgrade at RT?

There aren't a lot of teams with spare OT around to just trade for worth the capital it takes.

Yes its a weakness in pass rush, but its been a weakness for years and our offense continues to produce at a high level.

As presently constructed probably not. With some weight put back on and time with Adams and the OL coaches it’s possible for sure.

I did read a good in-depth piece about how he was taught to play at UGA (hop-step) vs what the Steelers tried to teach (kick-slide). Apparently Adams and co teach their OL the hop-step style Jones played in college.

Does that mean he’s going to improve into a starting RT? Not necessarily. But he’s got all the physical gifts you could ask for, if he indeed does take better to the hop-step style then there’s a pathway to fixing him up into a good RT.

I also don’t think Pittsburgh has been a good offensive development organization for 5-6 years now, so there’s another angle for improvement.

But the Jones pickup is exactly what I mean in terms of T availability. Unless you do something drastic for a guy who’s on the verge of a payday, you’re not going to have many opportunities to trade for talented T’s.

The Jones move is exactly that, moderate capital given up for a low floor high ceiling guy. Steele is a low floor low ceiling guy, so there’s hope Jones can raise the bar.

Yes, just maybe this will light a fire under Steele's behind lol. Give him some extra motivation. BTW, Jerry made a boneheaded move giving Steele that big contract after suffering that ACL injury. Steele was working his way back from his torn ACL injury when Jerry gave him that extension. We should have let him play out his last year of his deal at that time and gave him a 1 year contract extension or let him walk. Steele has been pretty bad since the signing.

I have concerns about his health. The spinal fusion surgery is a major red flag.

The FO continues to collect injured players they feel they can fix.
Draft picks be damned.

Maybe they'll get lucky in their efforts to salvage him. If it happens, i don't think he helps the team this year.

Seems like they gave up a 3rd round draft choice for damaged goods. IMO

They better not look past this team. The Giants sure are talking alot of smack. Hoping for a Cowboys beat down to shut them up.

I don't buy into Harbaugh. Sorry. He was a specials team coach who inherited generational players on D. They haven't sniffed a title since those players retired. His teams blew leads at home on a fairly regular basis. His choice(s) at OC was bizarre. The only advantage the Giants have over Dallas talent wise is at pass rush. Giants are still a 6 win team at best.

They got a 4th back. Not a total wash. Adams and Shotty probably signed off him.

Injury risks is the NFL. The problem isn't lack of attempts to improve its lack of available talent.

They also have Morrison on ps who has starting experience too. Another reclamation project sure.

Id also keep eyes on some vets who may be signed after week 1.

Jonah Williams and Fant come to mind.
