He and Sean Lee both play the Mike. I know we could move them around, but I don't like the idea personally.

Stephen Jones said they didn't have any interest since he and Lee play the same position and they wouldn't want to shuffle players around.

that's too bad....BU in the middle for 2 years with Lee on one side and Carter on the other....yummy....

It would make a lot of sense for us to bring him in on an affordable deal, he's the best cover 2 mike to ever play the game and Sean Lee fits better at Sam anyway. Switching to a new D, it would really help with having a coach on the field like Urlacher.

The man can't run any more and play the middle, he can;t play the MLB position is to cover, why would anyone want him, let him retire?

That's not at all what he said.

If the guy can play then I'd want him and I'd find a way to get them all on the field together. I'm not certain if he would be a progress stopper or not. The real problem is how are you going to pay him. I doubt he will play for peanuts.

It's simple. With lite room on the cap and with more pressing needs at other positions, we don't have the luxury of signing Urlacher.

He would be a very good back up for Lee. Lee hasn't played a full year yet, so we know he could go down at any moment. We need someone that can step in that has experience in a cover 2 style defense.

Executive vice president Stephen Jones was asked about the possibility of signing veteran free agent linebacker Brian Urlacher. Jones expressed a fondness for Urlacher, calling him a Hall of Famer, but said it was doubtful it would happen. Jones' point is it wouldn't make sense to sign Urlacher to backup Sean Lee, only to cut him after a year. "You don't ever dismiss Hall of Famers in my book," Jones said. "It would be difficult. He obviously plays what Sean plays. To move everything around for a year doesn't really make a lot of sense. But at the same time, you don't ever rule it out."

Thanks for providing the quote showing that you were inaccurate.

I was pretty accurate. You have yet to be right about anything.

That doesn't equate to not being at all interested. Comprehension goes a long way. It not being a great fit, doesn't mean they aren't interested. Try to keep up.

That doesn't say they have interest. It's a non commital statement out of respect. If you read it in total he's saying they don't have interest. He plays the same position as Lee and even went as far to say that he would be a backup to Lee. Then he even said they wouldn't want to move guys around for just a year. He pretty much wanted to be respectful but still say it isn't happening.

Its time that we get younger. We can't chase everyone let's draft good and put stock in Albright and Wiber, its time we see what these guys have. I'll pass.

It wouldn't be bad having being that he is more durable then lee and can play multiple linebacker positions. I believe this will work but the way the cap is, how is the contract going to work with the budget and the needs of this team like O-line and safety. Im on the badwaggon with getting him but sad thing to say Cowboys are at a cheap state where they aren't optimistic about getting any big names in free agency this year.
