Isn't Godfrey just a camp body? I would think a noteworthy move would be signing a potential starter.

Roster Churned As Cowboys Sign Guard, DE; Waive Two More
Posted 2 hours ago

OXNARD, Calif. – The Cowboys continue to churn the bottom of the roster as they returned to practice on Tuesday in Oxnard.
The Cowboys signed two players after working them out Tuesday morning. The club signed defensive end Jabari Fletcher (6-3, 260), who last played for the San Jose SaberCats in the Arena Football League. He also played in the NFL for both Arizona and Jacksonville in 2012.

The club worked out guard Dennis Godfrey, a teammate of Fletcher’s in San Jose. Godfrey (6-3, 335) played last season at Wake Forest.

The team waived punter
Spencer Benton and defensive end Monte Taylor. Both players were sent home after the morning walk through.

Cowboys working on a deal to sign veteran guard Brandon moore

Expand

here is some info on Moore from a few months ago:

Former New York Jets offensive guard Brandon Moore has spent much of his pro career being underrated and underappreciated. He went undrafted in 2002 before becoming an anchor on the offensive line for the Jets.

Moore spent 11 years with the Jets, developing into a respected leader and key player. He finally reached the Pro Bowl after the 2011 season. In the round-up of the top 100 players from the 2012 NFL season at ProFootballFocus.com, KhaledElsayed heaped praise on Moore, placing him at No. 78 overall. He wrote:

While Moore is remembered for Mark Sanchez running into his backside, he should be remembered for another excellent season from the perennially underrated guard. Even though he gave up just 20 quarterback disruptions and was flagged for only four penalties, it was actually his work in the run game that made him stand out, especially a fine end to the season.

Here is the crazy part. Moore is still a free agent!

I like the Moore move much better. 3 years is a big difference when you're in your mid 30s. Though Waters was much better than Moore in his prime, Waters is 36 and Moore just turned 33.
