This guy was undrafted and in our camp back in 99, as a tight end? I was reading his Bio and it said after being cut by us back in 99, the OL coach for the chiefs convinced him to become an offensive lineman. Who was our O- Line coach back in 99? I know who the HC was, we have missed on a lot of guys over the years.

If I remember correctly, the Cowboys were playing KC in Dallas It was back when Trent Green was KC's QB. Aikman was broadcasting the game and he and Joe Buck were talking about Brian Waters and his brief time with Dallas. Aikman recalled a time where Waters was in the huddle and he forgot what the play was and Aikman yelled at the sidelines to get him (Waters) out of the game. Just a small nugget I remember.

So true. Very few knew it about the guy but he was not only the QB but also the head of the scouting department, co-OL coach and GM.

This should not be a shock to anyone.

Over the years we have demonstrated a poor track record with linemen.

Waters we gave up on. Same for Oliver Ross in those days.

In more recent years there have been the following:

Harvey Dahl
Tony Moll
Dennis Roland
Stephen Peterman

All teams miss that is true. But if would have been nice to have hit on a few like this as bad as we have been at drafting them.

I always love these great prognosticators who show up after the fact and complain.

so einstein. who is the guy we should keep, convert, etc. that we can point to in 5 years? having a crystal ball looking 10 years in the past is a blast ain't it. while you are at it, since you seem to be holding the almighty crystal ball, can you give me the lottery numbers for this week? I promise to share!!

Tex Schramm...only time he was talked out of a draft pick...he went with Doug Cosbie [great pick] instead of Joe Montana.....
