When people complain about the OL's "slow start" last year, it was really just a game and a half. It coincided with Mackenzy Bernardeau entering the Giants game in relief of Leary early in the 2nd half, then alternating series with Collins the next week. During those six quarters of football we averaged 3.2 yards per rush. The rest of the season, 4.8 yards per rush.
in those 6 quartersGotta believe Joseph Randle was the bigger issue.
in those 6 quarters
Randle 25 car 77 yd (3.1 ypc)
McFadden 12 car 30 yd (2.5 ypc)
rest of season
Randle 51 car 238 yd (4.7 ypc)
McFadden 227 car 1059 yd (4.7 ypc)

I haven't seen enough of Looney to have an honest opinion of him to start with but I don't think Bernie deserved a lot of the flack he caught on this board by many. He's not a guy you want starting week in and week out but as a depth/reserve guy he was pretty damned solid.

I am, but that statement is usually accompanied by an alternative explanation for the correlation.Don't really care whether they bring him back or not, but as a research guy, I'm guessing you're familiar with the statistical concept: "Correlation does not imply causation".
He was better at Center, IMO, than at Guard. He tended to be late off the ball at Guard. He was good at the seal and peel but had balance issues. His strength is an asset so it could be worse but I would be interested in what else is out there.
