Now I know that it is sentiments like the title of this thread that make me very unpopular here at the zone, but I couldnt resist making a post that reminded many here of there constant whining in regards to Galloway!
I mean come on guys and gals, where is all this pessimism coming from? Terry Glenn is not our superstar WR, that guy seems to have his head screwed on tight and is currently preparing to reassert himself as a superstar in this league. Also, this league is more dependent upon what Wade and his new aggressive defense can do against both the run and the pass. I dont want to make light of TGs problems, for TG the man first and foremost. He deserved to be out there contributing during the season when the Cowboys have a legitimate shot at making a deep run in the playoffs, no doubt. However, life sometimes is not fair.
His injury will cause the team to adjust and do some different things in order to move the ball, but those could range from as simple as having crayton run the same routes to using a combination of players currently on the roster to accomplish Terrys role, to adjusting game plans to put other players in positions to use their talents, to even reaching out and coming up with another WR to use in any of these capacities. Whatever is done, will not dictate one single win or loss for this team. This team is built around Romo, Owens, Whitten, and that DEFENSE! Not to mention, who EXACTLY is available right now? I led this post with a name, in my humble opinion the perfect name, in fact a name that never should have been allowed to leave Dallas. But thats just my opinion. Joey could fill Terrys role, but its unrealistic to think anything on the planet could be done to bring him here! More importantly, nothing on the planet indicates that replacing Terry is NECESSARY to the Cowboys this season. Crayton and Hurd will be steady, thats why we have been developing them for a few years now. Owens and Whitten know what it means to need to create more looks for themselves, and in a sense, this makes Owens that much more dangerous.
Me, I wouldnt have our injury situations going any other way this week. Oh sure we all want Utopia where none of our players our hurting, but we live in reality where we have four important cogs banged up. To me the two that we are getting good news on are FAR FAR more important to have ready to go then the two that are lingering. Again ideally wed have em all, but reality is what it is, and having Newman and a Burnette who is clearly growing into a playmaker at LB will allow this defense to strike fear and loathing in the heart and head of Quarterbacks everywhere, starting with Eli Manning. This will lead to an 11-5 0r 12-4 season and a collective sigh of relief from all of you who are panicked over every day life of an NFL organization.
Last point, Im glad Jerry and Wade are on edge! No reason for the players to start believing the hype about how good they are gonna be, a little frustration and internal motivation will only help the focus for sunday night. Jerry will handle the WR position no worries, and as long as Newmans Plantar and Burnettes Bone Chips are ready for Sunday, Ill leave Eli with a warning! DUCK!
