Bring JJ Wilcox back?

After reading the title of this thread....Maybe I will get that CPAP machine after all. (those in my sleep thread will get the joke)

Maybe if we didn't have Kavon Frasier starting to show something. I owuldn't want someone like Wilcox taking time from Frasier, as Frasier might have a chance to take the next step.

It was a rhetorical question.
He was asked about missing OTAs (I think it was OTAs. Something voluntary.)
"What do voluntary mean?" = "Participation was voluntary so I didn't come. What about that don't you understand?"

Hey I understand but thought he didnt know what it meant. If you can read and go back a little, I didnt have all the info you gave. Dont be so quick to assume everyone knows everything. Maybe he didnt know what the word meant. What about that you dont understand. You got your finger in the kool aid but you still dont know the flavor!!

I see all the shots being taken at Wilcox and laugh, cuz he would be the best run defender on our roster among all of the safeties we have....he can't cover for crap though. He's not terrible at all, just a rotational type player.

Xavier Woods is better.
Kevon Frazier is better
.

Exactly, Kavon Frazier is better, younger and cheaper. He also has more upside, I can't see any reason to bring JJ Wilcox back even on a minimum salary contract.

J.J. Wilcox - DB - Steelers
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette expects the Steelers to release S J.J. Wilcox.

Wilcox played just 131 2017 snaps after coming over in a September trade from the Bucs. Cutting him would create $3.125 million in cap space while leaving behind just $675,000 in dead money.

Bringing him back would undo the good we did last year with purging out the old guys in the secondary

I have to disagree. Wilcox I think had the mindset to be a strong run defender because he loved coming up to play the run, but in reality he was always so focused on the big hit that he took a lot of bad angles or missed tackles or failed to wrap up.

I'm not saying he's a "good run defender"....I'm saying he'd still be the best safety we'd have in run support....that's how bad we were vs the run in 2017.

Not sure why we let him go, he had an impact.

Seriously?

We didn't want to overpay to retain him, and knew we could get younger/better at the position without missing too much of a step without him.

The fact that he's on the verge of being bounced by two teams in one year is a good indicator that it was the right choice.

I explained it because it was clear some people didn't know the context.

I wouldn't be explaining the joke to people I thought already knew the context.

Stop trying to apply logic.

Just smile and nod.

Use the heavy metal guard rails.
