I was on vacation and missed both preseason games.

In the season ticket holder fan guide, it does not say anything about still cameras with lenses. It says nothing about what size lens is allowed.

So I had this idea I would bring the fan code of conduct book with me and my camera and the 200 mm lens and make them show me where it says it is not allowed.

However I am with you, I really dont want to have to walk back to the lot and then back.

I think I may put the 55 mm lens on and throw the bigger lens in the bag and see what happens. I brouhght it to every game the stadium and the same guy at gate 9 everyweek would look through my bag and then ask me which section I was in, then he would say ok your good. I was in an upper section not sure if that mattered....

Its going to suck if I cant bring my camera, I already went to the pro shop tuesday, which is more like a banana republic, its all teeanage college girls that work in there and when I asked where the media guides were they told me they had never heard of them. I then replied that I buy one every year at the first preseason game and about 5 girls at the checkout looked at me like I had three eyes and 4 ears. Its frustrating.

anwyay let me know if you have luck with your camera getting in.

Nice to have you back, Theebs. :)

Not wanting to leave things to chance, I emailed "Guest Comments" for the stadium and asked them point blank:

I have a Canon Rebel camera with detachable lenses that I wanted to bring to the game with me this Sunday. From the looks of the Guest Information section, such a camera WOULD be allowed. But I have heard that during the preseason games, people were told they could NOT bring such cameras in by security staff. Is there a clear answer on this? I'd like to be able to take some good pictures of this historic game for my own memories, but I don't want to put myself in a situation where I have to walk all the way back to my car and leave my camera on game-day. Please advise. All the best, [Name] Season Ticket Holder

This was the response that was sent back:

All still camera are allowed, NO VIDEO!
Have a great time!

That seems pretty non-ambiguous to me. So I printed that email out, along with the Guest Information section from the website that says the same thing, and I'm bringing them in my camera bag.

If I get any flak from security, my plan is to show them that, and then if that doesn't work, to insist on talking to a supervisor, and show them that I specifically asked about that exact camera with the detachable lenses. I gotta think that will work.

I'd suggest doing the same. It only took 5 minutes for them to respond, and I think it's a pretty powerful thing to have on your side if you end up in a dispute with the gate crew. And maybe if enough people email them the question before gameday, they'll make sure to get the correct word out to security!

from what i have read on another board a LOT of people had to take
lenses back to their cars at the preseason games.
apparently a LOT of them complained and now the gate personnel know
to allow any/all as long as it isnt video and won't interfere.

i dont have that good a camera so i dont worry.

Are you sure about the Zoom Lens?

The official website doesn't say anything about that. Just no video cameras.

I was planning on bringing my Canon Rebel, but I'd hate to have to trek back to the car to put it away once I was at the stadium.
I know they stopped some people at the gate, but others were let in, during preseason. The people working the gates are inconsistent about the rules (and very likely have no clue what the rules really are) so it's a crap shoot unless you want to push the issue. I turned around about half way to the stadium cause someone warned me they were turning people away. I'm risking it on Sunday, though.

That's why I'm bringing the email and their own guidelines.

The rules are definitely in my favor, so I hope if they're reminded of that, they'll see the light.

I wonder if they consider the D90 a still camera? We took it to Texas Stadium last year and got some great shots....we also took a few short videos, that nobody outside of a few guests here at home have seen.

I guess most cameras have video capability though, so I guess as long as it's not a full fledged video camera you're ok?

I don't guess I ever got an e-mail. At the least I'll print out the link you posted.

Digital Camera's with lenses should be ok. I seen many people with them.
They know some camera's and phones have video capability. But they are limited in their use.
I believe they are concerned with the ones you can set up and record the entire game.
