In the season ticket holder fan guide, it does not say anything about still cameras with lenses. It says nothing about what size lens is allowed.
So I had this idea I would bring the fan code of conduct book with me and my camera and the 200 mm lens and make them show me where it says it is not allowed.
However I am with you, I really dont want to have to walk back to the lot and then back.
I think I may put the 55 mm lens on and throw the bigger lens in the bag and see what happens. I brouhght it to every game the stadium and the same guy at gate 9 everyweek would look through my bag and then ask me which section I was in, then he would say ok your good. I was in an upper section not sure if that mattered....
Its going to suck if I cant bring my camera, I already went to the pro shop tuesday, which is more like a banana republic, its all teeanage college girls that work in there and when I asked where the media guides were they told me they had never heard of them. I then replied that I buy one every year at the first preseason game and about 5 girls at the checkout looked at me like I had three eyes and 4 ears. Its frustrating.
anwyay let me know if you have luck with your camera getting in.
Nice to have you back, Theebs.
Not wanting to leave things to chance, I emailed "Guest Comments" for the stadium and asked them point blank:
I have a Canon Rebel camera with detachable lenses that I wanted to bring to the game with me this Sunday. From the looks of the Guest Information section, such a camera WOULD be allowed. But I have heard that during the preseason games, people were told they could NOT bring such cameras in by security staff. Is there a clear answer on this? I'd like to be able to take some good pictures of this historic game for my own memories, but I don't want to put myself in a situation where I have to walk all the way back to my car and leave my camera on game-day. Please advise. All the best, [Name] Season Ticket Holder
This was the response that was sent back:
All still camera are allowed, NO VIDEO!
Have a great time!
That seems pretty non-ambiguous to me. So I printed that email out, along with the Guest Information section from the website that says the same thing, and I'm bringing them in my camera bag.
If I get any flak from security, my plan is to show them that, and then if that doesn't work, to insist on talking to a supervisor, and show them that I specifically asked about that exact camera with the detachable lenses. I gotta think that will work.
I'd suggest doing the same. It only took 5 minutes for them to respond, and I think it's a pretty powerful thing to have on your side if you end up in a dispute with the gate crew. And maybe if enough people email them the question before gameday, they'll make sure to get the correct word out to security!
