I don't agree with that completely. The problem with the OL is that too often someone(s) would not execute well and the play would suffer for it. It wasn't always the same guy(s). It was consistently inconsistent up and down the entire OL. I wouldn't put the blame on anyone particular individual. They all looked bad on occasion. Consistency is got to be something the OL improves on. I'd rather see two guys screw up one play here and there than someone nearly every play.

This is correct. The line couldn't get any cohesiveness going. Remember the Broncos team that Terrell Davis ran behind? Those guys were all 6th round picks, or so. But they stayed healthy and they played well together. That allowed the Broncos to address address the rest of their team. If these guys pan out, it helps our team. Because, then, we can address other needs. I'm not giving up on Free. I've been a big fan of his in the past. I'm not giving up on Arkin. I'm pulling for that guy. Tyron Smith will come along. He had a good year last year. I'm not sure what everyone is worried about. And Frederick is going to be just fine. I loved what he adds to the line. He was a 1st rounder and I credit whoever made that call. My only concern is left guard. But I think Arkin can play the RG and by having him and Frederick it makes both side of our line better.

I'm more concerned about the d-line than anything. But Ware looks really good now. I'll recant my statement on him. I think he'll have a great year. Selvie should make the team.. but the rest of the line worries me.

I like the idea of Arkin becoming the Catholic version of Kyle Kosier. Kosier was always consistent. You knew that he was going to show up to play and do a decent job, even if he wasn't for to be pancaking guys left and right or making Pro Bowls.

He's a smart player too. Arkin won't make many mistake in terms of false starts, holds et cetera. You can almost count on it.

I also just had a thought. And that would be Costa at LG... that would make a nice offensive line, I think.

I don't know if you watched the HOF game, but IMO, Leary handled himself well at LG; played with power and opened up holes for the running game and was solid in pass blocking. Costa looks like strength is still an issue for him.

I never want to see those scrubs Livings/Bernie in a Cowboys uniform again.

I cant BELIEVE we actually signed these guys in free agency and called it "shoring up the line" the AUDACITY of Jerry

Those confused looks you were mentioning. That was the center not getting Romo's cadence right and the snap being either too soon or too late.

Some of the most audacious shoring I've ever seen, frankly. Think how much better shape we'd be in if we'd signed some expensive starters instead of trying to bring Leary and Arkin along right about now. Older and more expensive is better, I always say. Especially on positions other teams fill relatively inexpensively.

If we paid them enough, we'd even maybe save some time not having to negotiate extensions for players like Sean Lee and Dez Bryant.

I still don't see what the rest of you were seeing last year; he wasn't getting blown up.

I clearly remember him being put on skates over and over again last preseason. He would snap the ball and just get ridden straight into the QBs lap.

With Romo, all you have to do is not let the guy beat you. Romo can move around back there. It's not necessarily a bad thing to get pushed back.. as long as you're not letting your man bye you. On the right side, Arkin can use his skills to leverage players more and either push them around or let them push him around, but still protect the quarterback. It's important to note that Romo can see Arkin. He still has a ways to go to put on the kind of strength he'd ideally need, but he has good technique for a guard, he has better lateral or horizontal feet and that's part of his game. He's quick off the ball on run plays and stays low, so quick he surprises. He's not there yet, but he'll get there. We just have to give him time. Fans can sometimes be so impatient.

For some that may very well be correct. Not all though. Everyone else was blocking and he wasn't. Some are just because he has some problems with players shooting the gaps. But I'm telling you guys he can be dominating at times. I just didn't watch him every snap last year. I'd like to know what his problems are. Maybe someone can ask Broaddus?????

I disagree. It is not good for the center to get pushed back. He's the front for the pocket. Getting pushed back is the same as the pocket collapsing up front. Keeps the QB from escaping pressure laterally by stepping up in the pocket. Romo will stay in the pocket if allowed. And he can pick a defense apart if given time. Putting him on the move results in more turnovers although he's great at continuing a play and making something happen. He's just as good in the pocket and less likely to lose the ball. Creating a pocket and sustaining it is something these guys work on extensively and repetitively. Defense work hard to not allow that.

Agreed. I look forward to watching Tennessee in the Super Bowl. Big money spent on one OG. High draft pick with the other. They understand you build teams around OGs.
