Interesting. Some of us made the same argument for the preference of Free over Parnell. I think people have a tendency to undervalue consistency in the OL. I'll take consistency over power. However, one of the reasons Bern isn't starting is because of a lack of consistency.

Yep, except Parnell gave up 1/2 sack in 7 games including 2 playoff games while Free gave up 5.5 in 11 games (per Bob Sturm's in depth analysis). That means Parnell had the average and the home run power.

Putting Escobar out wide is only going to get you a nickel look from the defense unless you show them that you can and will run the ball with that personnel group.
The Cowboys had a higher rushing average from 3 WRs sets than in other formations.

5) If Ronald Leary or Zack Martin could not start or finish a game – the replacement would be Mackenzy Bernadeau over La’el Collins. It has been a learning experience for Collins, who has had his moments where things have gone as planned -- then others where he has struggled with his technique and an occasional assignment.

I find this hard to believe.

Why? Most OL have a learning curve of about two years. People here sang the song of praise for Fred but he didn't get his pass blocking and assignments down well until into his second year. And they will all continue to improve excepting Free.

"10) With J.J. Wilcox out of practice with issues in his neck, Byron Jones took the majority of the snaps at safety. Jones was getting work both in the back end and down in the box where we normally see Barry Church play. Jones continues to look comfortable wherever they ask him to play, and that includes the work he gets battling Jason Witten in coverage. Where I have been the most impressed with Jones is in his ability to take all the information that they are asking him to learn -- and he doesn’t appear to be struggling with the mental side at all."

it's looking like, for the third year in a row, the first round draft pick that everyone thought was just a consolation prize has turned out to be a really good football player.

Very good news.

However, it does nothing to abate my concern about Doug Free's 16 game availability for this season.

Players get injured more frequently as they age and are less likely to be able to play when banged up as seasons progress.

Free has had problems two years running and I'm fretting it will turn into three at some point this year.

Prove me wrong, Free, I want to to be.

He is unlikely to NOT miss any games IMO. This is both bad and good. The good is it gives someone a chance to set up to the plate and produce. Sooner rather than later Free will be gone and they need some idea if they need to draft or go outside the organization for his replacement.

What happened to Damien Wilson? I thought he was playing so well that he was a lead candidate for a starting LB spot while McClain is gone and possibly even has a chance to steal a starting spot from Hitchens when McClain comes back. Now, all of a sudden, he's not even mentioned for a starting spot at all and guys like Gachkar and Wilber are.

Mistakes in games.

I bet most team do...it's a miss match and I hope they continue that trend. Then you put the defensive guys in a bind and then you throw on them. Have to have both.

11) Plan on Lance Dunbar being your nickel running back this season. In the portion of practice where the offense and defense match up to play situational football – Dunbar was on the field regardless of down and distance. During our time in Oxnard, Jerry Jones spoke of getting Dunbar more touches during the season. It appears that he will be getting his wish.
That ought to ruffle a few feathers.

He kinda like Collins, in the sense that he has a high ceiling, and shows flashes of greatness. At the same time, however, he makes typical rookie mistakes, overruns plays and gets himself taken out. RIght now he's high reward but high risk. He needs to tighten some of those things up, and he'll be there.

They're not going to run a nickel against a two tight end package. They have to make the substitution before the alignment is given away. If they switch to nickel, then you line him up off the tackle and run it down their throat.

They're still talking about Mincey starting over Gregory. It's just an extreme aversion to starting rookies over veterans.

I think something like 8 of our last 10 first rounders started for us. Including every 1st rounder taken under JG.

I read nothing from any of of you.
No disrespect.

I post this for my man: Morris.
Kill it this year bud.
I root for my boys and if Mo' can get it done, it makes it easier for my other boys.

I root for my team.
Let's have some balls bounce our way,
Let's have our men take over and have ownership of everything they do.

I am looking forward (since I am fading right now...) to improvement and to these guys proving themselves to us and our coaches.
