Drafting Hack is a wasted pick.

Cook has some good tools.

Broncos drafted Osweiler.
Patriots drafted Garoppolo.
Both drafted in the 2nd round.

Heck, even the Saints are interested in Lynch.

Because Dallas has yearly & seasonally screw up the QB position (they had a shot this year at #4 -- Jerry could have worked a trade), consequently they are stuck in this downward spiral - aging QB whose best days are in the rearviewmirror, the delicate physical stamina of the QB, bloated QB contract, no quality starter in the backup position, etc.

Now your hand is forced -- take one in the early rounds this draft, hope you hit OR embrace a 1-win or 2-win season (thus securing no. 1 pick in 2017) OR be like the Eagles and Rams this year, & be forced to trade up in the 2017 draft to get your QB for the future.
Pick your poison.

The last few days he has been mentioning over and over how they might be looking QB at 34. Presumably Cook or Hackenburg. Nearly every time he's been asked about that pick lately he's brought up QB. Some people may dismiss it, some may not. I just thought it was worth mentioning and letting people make their own conclusion.

I could see a trade up to the late first. 1) 5year option
2) Ahead of Denver

Good thread. Broaddus even hinted that a possible trade-up for one of these QB's could be the plan. I guess the 5th year option is the major motivation behind a move like that. I would be very disappointed if that happened.
Jones really values that. Its why he didnt trade into the 2nd for Frederick

Cook has some good tools.

With Hack, at least there is some shred of upside. It's not impossible that he was really failed by the Franklin coaching staff after he had a pretty successful true frosh year under O'Brien.

Cook is what he is. An inaccurate passer that's had the luxury of playing in the same system for 4 years.

Both suck but I'd sooner take a chance on Hackenberg and hope that I can find that QB from his frosh year when people started projecting he might be an elite QB than on a guy in Cook who seems to have reached his pinnacle.

Was listening to some show where they were talking about teams grabbing Cook, hackenburg etc in first round. By the sound of it, who is left by pick 34

Broaddus has about as much insight about what the Cowboys are going to do as 90% of the fans here. None.

They will overdraft DSk in the second and fans will flock to support the pick .

He's also hinted the Jets would move out of the 1st round.....If Lynch somehow fell to 1/20.....I'm all for a big trade up.;)

I disagree. Broaddus speaks his mind which I appreciate and much less of a homer compared to Mick. When you hangout at the Ranch as much as these guys you'll heard things. And that's much more info than all of us.

At least we saw some talent with those TEs they picked. But these QBs really are awful....awful and everyone can see it too.

That makes those picks sting even more because of that. All 3 can play and we fail to incorporate them into our dated schemes. Agree with you on staying away from the 2nd/3rd tier QBs. What's the point; like we could develop any QB that isn't already stocked with blue chip talent?

If that's the case then that's why this franchise has been mediocre the last two decades. There are no QB besides Lynch worth that high 2nd and we have proven that we cannot develop QBs. At top 2nd there will be a lot of talent. Picking a QB is a throw away pick...very sad.

Agree 100%

Connor Cook was on the Rich Eisen show this AM. Said teams that showed the most interest were in order 1) SF 2) Dal 3) Den.

We've been totally out manouvered in this draft and left hanging at #4 with both elite QBs gone and none of the elite prospects at 4 being in areas of need i.e. OT or replica of Jones. We can't get full value from the pick.

I'd be inclined to roll the dice twice on a QB in this draft - 1 x 4th round and 1 x 6th. Let them duke it out over 2016 - to decide if one is worthy of starting or a solid backup (to a #1 pick in 2017).

Jim Miller from "Moving the Chains" on sirius would be one happy camper. he has nothing but good things to say about his fellow Spartan QB. Might be a bit of a homer.;)

If Cook, Hack, or Dak fell to the top of the 4th - which I know is unlikely - I would be love the pick. It just that if I get a shot at Henry, Joseph, Dodd or a bunch of other players at the top of the 2nd that are almost for sure solid contributors and they take a Cook or Hack, I would be very displeased.
