1) It was nice to see everything that Sean Lee said in the locker room on Saturday come true in this game. He spoke of team defense, rallying to the ball and making tackles. He also spoke about getting after Kirk Cousins and not allowing this Commanders offense to make the big play. He spoke about a defense that needed to play physical the entire game, but most importantly, he spoke about a team going out and just getting a win.

2) DeMarcus Lawrence has been close a bunch this season. It was nice to see him finally get home on a couple of scheme-design blitzes. These are the stunts that they have been working on all season, but the execution was finally where it needed to be for the finish.

3) Thought going into this game that we would see some mixed coverages on Washington tight end Jordan Reed. We’ve grown accustomed to seeing Byron Jones just handle that job, but like the Carolina game last time out, Sean Lee,Barry Church and J.J. Wilcox, along with Jones, took at shot at Reed who ended up with only three receptions.

4) Nice wrinkle once again on offense with those "Jet Sweeps" to Lucky Whitehead.

11) Have to be honest here, I thought that Jason Garrett lost this game with the way he handled that drive before the Dan Bailey field goal. He should have worked the clock, forced the Commanders to use all their timeouts and then kicked the game-winning field goal, leaving them little time. He was very fortunate that game didn't end in a loss or that would have been on him.

Broaddus never was a fan of the "great politician".

He's not. He's right, though, that the coaches really messed up the time management there. I'll be interested to hear that story behind it when it comes out.

I think McFadden just screwed up getting too close to the sideline and had to go for the conversion. That extra clock stop might have messed up the plan to drain their timeouts and leave them too little time to score, but it sure seems like a time management mistake on our end.

How long did it take the skins to score after the McFadden TD?

If we had taken more time off the clock before the McFadden TD we wouldn't have had enough time to win in regulation after the Jackson TD.

Not saying it was smart gamr management, just saying the bad clock management happened to work in our favor and maybe everyone should just shut the hell up and enjoy the win.

10) Rough night for Devin Street. A holding penalty on a punt return wiped out a sizable gain from Lucky Whitehead and getting the ball ripped from his hands with his offense finally starting to show a little life wasn't good. Street was fortunate that the Commanders missed the field goal on that drive. Don't think there will be any changes here, but Brice Butler was a healthy inactive player this week. Can't have those types of situations happen when you get limited snaps to begin with.
I'm ready for a FA or a 2nd or 3rd round pick to take Street's spot.

No, if McFadden goes down after getting the first down, we lower the clock to 4 seconds pretty much before kicking the winning chip shot. Scoring a td was the only thing the skins could have hoped for, and we gift wrapped it for them without them having to take a single timeout too. Horrible

wow so Brice Butler was healthy and yet we still have this bum Street playing? Honeslty this guy has hurt us so much. hes more of an impact being on the bench, doesn't Butler have more catches than him?

Or we attempt two more running plays and McFadden fumbles again. I can play "what if" too.

Again, just enjoy the win.

7) I have to admit that I was worried about Doug Free in this game from a protection standpoint. There were times when Jon Gruden, who I know watches a ton of tape in his preparation, was even hinting to the fact that a Free-Ryan Kerrigan matchup was a likely win for his defense. From what I can remember, Free only allowed the one pressure where Kerrigan hit the arm of Cassel early in the game. Other than that, Free was able to hold his own on the Commanders best pass rusher.
I watched the game too and Free did not hold his own against Kerrigan, just because Cassell only got hit once doesn't mean Free did a good job. How many times did we see Free get pushed off the line almost immediately by RK?

I didn't see it that way. I think McFadden made a mistake running out of bounds and that may have change their plans.

I think they had 3 options and this is in preference order:

1. Run for a first down and fall down before the goal line. Run the remainder of the clock down and kick a field goal with no time left.

2. Score a TD and rely on your defense to not give up a TD in the final minute.

3. Kneel the ball for 3 plays and kick a field goal. I think it would have left about :35 left on the clock for Washington to get in FG range with no time outs.

I think #1 is your best option but too hard to plan for.The way the defense was playing forcing them to get a TD in the final minute seems like the right move to me.

However, if we don't score a TD and the field goal snap gets bobbled or the kick blocked this place would be flooded with how stupid JG is for that move too. :)

I agree, except I don't really think #1 was all that hard to plan for.

And I think McFadden helped make that decision for them when he went for the first down marker on the sideline, too.
