1. Rod Marinelli spoke post-practice on why he likes to take this time of the year and mix his defensive linemen around to see different combinations that he might have going into training camp. One of the most productive groups he had going was DeMarcus Lawrence at left end, Tyrone Crawford and Greg Hardy inside and Jeremy Mincey off the right side. Marinelli is not big on bringing extra rushers and with this group he just rushed four and that pressure forced Tony Romo to have to throw the ball away.

Hardy at DT? Might want to put on 5-10lbs during his suspension.

Classic media edit. lol

That looks like an exciting group for surefire pass-rush situations.

I've been laughed out of threads for suggesting Hardy might play DT in this defense earlier this year.

It sure wasn't me because I've figured he would be a nickle DT since Dallas signed him. He's always been pretty effective inside.

The day Dallas drafted Randy Gregory, I said the nickle would end up being: Gregory, Hardy, Crawford, Lawrence... and I still think that.

Are some of you guys really this limited? Have you guys never seen DEs slide inside on passing downs?

Hardy did it plenty at Carolina....

I mean how could we use hardy inside when we have nick hayden!!!???

Kind of reminds you of what the Gents did to everybody. Yes, please.

Broaddus didn't mention any other alignments, so we have to assume nothing else was as noteworthy. Therefore: Most Productive. He can't come right out say most productive because then if, during the season, it isn't that lineup regularly *someone* would be all "wut abt da most productive???"

I mean how could we use hardy inside when we have nick hayden!!!???

Hayden would probably be a better play inside on rushing downs. Don't need to wear out Hardy out.

I am sure that Rod Marinelli is just working on combinations and looking for what works well and not well.
Training camp is more case specific to find out who will stay and who will go.
Additionally with the 3D film ability they get to see a lot more than before.
This will be a fun year to watch the defense.

Hardy can play up and down the line, especially in passing situations.

The beauty is, Marinelli has so much credibility, players will do whatever he asks without blinking.

It's amusing to see Marinelli ripping into these guys that are twice his size, and then come and talk to the media like he's never used a swear word or raised his voice before. The players love him though. I've said it before: A year of Kiffin was worth getting Marinelli in house.

Similar to what the Giants would do when they had Tuck, Kiwanuka, JPP, etc. In situations they'd put 4 DEs on the field with Tuck and someone else playing DT. Tuck was a handful for OGs because of his quickness.
