  • Plays the game with a great deal of passion and emotion. Is non-stop in the way he attacks the ball, whether it is run or pass. I see him as a right defensive end in this scheme, but he has played on the left side, as well.
  • Lines up as an under-tackle in certain pass rush packages. Will play with his hand on the ground the majority of the time, but there are also snaps where he will rush from a two-point stance on his feet. I could see that they were trying to match him up with blockers that he could take advantage of.
  • In the Patriots matchup, Nate Solder was giving him some problems so they kicked him over to the other side and he took some shots against Marcus Cannon -- similar to what we have seen with DeMarcus Ware during hiscareer in Dallas.
  • Outstanding short area quickness and burst. Really comes out of his stance when the ball is snapped. Plays with range, especially when the ball goes away from him. He can really run from the backside -- natural change of direction and balance. I would not say that he has remarkable upper body strength, because there were snaps where, unless he was able to get his hands inside first, shedding blockers was a problem.
  • Where he beats blockers is with that first initial move. He can put them in a bad spot right off the snap. Is consistent in the way he rushes. Comes with counter moves and a plan. Can defeat men one-on-one or handle a double team and still get pressure.

I like Broaddus' insights, but the fact he writes for the team's official site is obvious. He always lists a player's strengths in his scouting reports. Just for balance, I'd like to read a little about what a player's weaknesses are once in a while, too. The one quote about upper body strength was the only negative in this report.

Still, good stuff.

Hardy doesn't exactly have a lot of negatives on the field.

I've heard his second and third initial moves aren't too hot though, I've heard.

To me it's his finisher that counts. As long as he's disrupting the QB, and hopefully sacking him at the same time I'm satisfied. We need to be able to get to the QB in a disruptive manner within 2 seconds if possible , otherwise Eli and Brady will have released the ball already...

Absolutely. And I've found his relentless style to be a big motivator to his defensive teammates. He's a catalytic player who brings his teammates up to his level of intensity and effort - contagious.

Great trait and I believe it will rub off on the other players. We definitely have a few that can use more intensity.

He is a heck of a player but also a real junk yard dog as far as attitude. He is extremely nasty. The type of guy that evokes fear in the other QB because there is something that isn't right about him. His attitude is a lot like Haley in the fact that they are both a little bit crazy. Our team has needed that for years. I can't wait to see our D at week 7 as they gel.
