News: Broaddus Scout Notebook Article on Game

Broaddus was mysteriously absent for a week, but his latest article is pretty negative for DC.com. At least he is being honest in this one.
Can't wait for Mickey to put a positive spin on the game like he always does.
OMG, this was the best article I have read about the team and coaching..

I argued in preseason that Moore will be taken to the shed a few times during the year, since he is a first year OC...he may someday be good, but he has to learn the NFL...zimmer and his staff were too experienced for him and he got fooled.

and he nails it on the the defense. we have Lawrence, Quinn, Bennett, Smith, LVE, Jones and that should be enough to be a dominating defense, yet they knew they will feed Cook and they didn't game plan and force Cousins to beat you....how many missed tackled? how many 3rd downs did they convert? get off the field already...and we allow teams to convert, march down the field and have these long sustained drives...this defense is much much much worse in preparation and execution than the offense, specially with the players they have on their side.....Richard and Marinelli are very underwhelming.

and what the heck is it with the OL..three of the highest paid in their position on the OL and we struggle to get any push up front...Fredrick was consistently beat....he may still be recovering perhaps...

Brutal but accurate assessment.

How many ********* times are we going to let teams just get 6-7-8 yards easily against us on passes over the middle because we have our LBs playing deeper zones?

I contend that we are playing the wrong scheme for the personnel we have. We should be letting Smith and LVE patrol that short passing area but instead we seem content in dropping them deep and then come up to tackle a guy for a smooth 7 yard gain.

The Cowboys’ continued struggles against screen passes are baffling. There comes a time where a linebacker or defensive back needs to get off a block and get over to make a stop. The only time I saw Dalvin Cook get stopped on one was DeMarcus Lawrence hustling over and tripping Cook up before he was able to get started. Other than that one, all I noticed were defenders getting driven off the field or missing tackles. From my experience in the league, opponents are going to study this film and it’s only going to get worse until they figure out how to defend them.

Broaddus said it so maybe it will stick with some of you. I was saying this the whole game. This should really be the only talking point for why we lost. Anybody bringing up Kellen Moore or Zeke are full of it.

This coaching group has very little overall situational awareness. I think the Cowboys want to play everything “honest” on offense and defense meaning they want to be balanced on offense at all costs and play the run and the pass equally every game regardless of how good or bad an opponent is at either.

There is no strategy about taking away a facet of an offense of continuing to take what the defense is giving you. It’s maddening.

This is the most talented team we have had overall since the last super bowl team and it is being totally wasted.

This is not in anyway the most talented team since the Super Bowl by any stretch. The 07 team's talent smokes this one.

Spot on nailed it. Beat write up by Broaddus ever.
This game and season is 100% on the Head Coach and coaching staffs stubbornness and inability to adjust scheme to in game situations and also to hold players accountable (Awuzie).
We won’t make the playoffs and this is Garrett’s last season as head coach.

Garrett was just on the fan doing his morning after interview and he repeatedly said KELLEN MOORE calls the plays. This guy is an excellent buck passer. He also said the two run calls were RPO's. This is placing the blame on Dak. Just like he blamed romo in 13 for the audible vs GB.

He basically was saying that third down play was an RPO and didn't have to be given to zeke.

can't wait till this is all over.

No accountability from this coach ever. Blames everyone else

when he is not resigned and goes his own way I can almost guarantee he is going to play the "well they took my play calling away and wanted to change my offense" card.

that is what it sounded like this morning, essentially hey you let moore call the plays then let him take the blame.

on one hand he is right and on the other he is the head coach and is the final decision maker.

I will also add Garrett looked bad last night. He looked stressed as can be. he looks like parcells looked halfway through 06 before romo took over and he is like 15 years younger than Bill was at that point.

They never adjust to the opponent. It's the same stubborn approach we've seen in Dallas for years. It's the exact opposite approach you see in New England. Hmmmm...
