So they want to punish innocent kids instead of the gangs. Makes as much sense as anything else coming out of public schools these days.

Ahead of Sunday’s big game between the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers, some students in Greeley, Colo., are upset over an anti-gang policy that prohibits them from wearing Peyton Manning’s No. 18 jersey.

“They told me I couldn’t wear 18 anymore because it’s a gang number and I had to take it off,” said Konnor Vanatta during an interview with FOX31 Denver on Tuesday.

Vanatta, a third grader in the Weld County School System, was disappointed to learn that the number 18 is considered to represent gang affiliations and is not allowed on clothing inside county classrooms.

of course, man, where have you been???? so is 9, it is from a gang related to the 18 crew. 18/2 = 9 and 1+8 = 9. better have the kids wear those Romo jerseys as much as possible for the school boards in Texas get up to speed!!!!

this is like where a school in utah changed the name of their mascot "cougars" because it was offensive to older women.

why in the HELL are we letting people take words for their own defination and then demand sympathy for their idiocy?

I remember reading that. Students voted for "Cougars" as their mascot of choice, but the school district/ board/ admin (?) overrode the students decision... thinking, as you said, it might be offensive to women.

Another example of Public School System thinking that makes me want to: :banghead:

I wasn't allowed to wear jerseys, period, back in elementary school for this reason. It was the early 90s. I didn't know it was still an issue.

Face it, when we willingly bent over for cameras on streets, taking off our shoes at airports, having some TSA guy stare you down to see if you blink first, allow cops to video us and plug our licence plate numbers into computers just on a whim, we gave up the right to claim we are losing rights.

We did it to ourselves.
