Broncos players say Tom Baby is a crybaby; New York tabloids have field day

NEW YORK -- The back covers of Wednesday's New York Daily News and New York Post look a lot like bulletin board material for this weekend's AFC Championship Game between the Broncos and New England Patriots.

Thanks to comments made by Broncos players Antonio Smith and Brandon Marshall, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady gets a diaper and the headline "CRYBRADY" in the New York Daily News.

In the New York Post, there's an animated photo of Brady crying and the headline "TOM BABY."

Smith, a defensive end for the Broncos, was asked by The Gazette of Colorado Springs if Tom Brady is a crybaby.

"That would be an accurate statement. I've never seen any quarterback look to the referee right after he gets sacked more than Brady," Smith said, according to The Gazette. "Every time he gets sacked he looks at the ref like, 'You see him sack me? Was that supposed to happen? He did it a little hard. Please throw a 15-yard penalty on him. Get him fined.'"

From what I can tell, he does seem to whine a little more than most other QBs, especially among the marquee QBs. And this from a guy who is protected much more than say, Tony Romo, and who plays in an era when QBs are more protected than ever before. Contrast Brady with Roger Staubach, who was regarded by no less than Jack Lambert as one of the toughest competitors the Steelers ever faced. Lambert said Staubach would take punishment, get up, not say a word, and line up all over again. Brady is great, there's no question of that. But I wonder how he'd have fared in the 1970s facing Joe Greene, LC Greenwood, Ernie Holmes, Jack Ham and Jack Lambert while throwing to receivers getting mauled by Mel Blount. Roger was great and tough as nails, and he earned the respect of even his fiercest competitors. The Commanders hated Roger but they respected him.

Roger was one of the toughest QB's I've seen play. There's a reason he's in my avatar!

Funny pics aside the article is the truth. Never seen a bigger whiner at the QB position, someone get Tom his "blanke".

Many of the hits on Romo , can easily qualify for the 15 yard variety , yet very rarely called , where as Brady has been getting most of ticky tacky late hit calls. May be he should palsy for Cowboys to know how easy he has in NE?

He certainly is a prima dona guy. But he reminds me of NBA Regie Miller, always flopping and looking for any help with the refs.

Man the broncos are dumb. Last thing you want to do is antangonize brady lol. Yeah lets make brady extra mad before we play lol.

Antagonizing a player does nothing.. That just gives a little emotional high. Better coaching and preparation wins in the end, and in the case of the Pats, stealing signals as well...

The Broncos D is the real deal. They can say whatever they want about Brady and they can back up their talk.

It should be a really fun game.

Honestly, I thought the Broncos D was the real deal too, and I hope they win this weekend, but I'm not holding my breath. They didn't look that great against Pitt's depleted WR core. I don't have stats off the top of my head, but there were plenty of WR's running free and open throughout that defense last week.

We will have to disagree. I personally think people perform harder when they are angry or pissed off. I see it at the gym all the time. When guys get mad, they lift harder and longer. I don't discount coaching and preparation and discipline, but anger can be a motivator.

Tom will make them suffer
