Broncos sign Jared Crick

Huh, just read at ESPN the a world champion Broncos defense just added DE Jared Crick and he will probably be a starter. For just 4 million for 2 years. And he is going there from the other Texas team : the Texans. I thought we were desperate for DE help ? If he can be a potential starter on a championship defense he probably could have helped us. A lot. And he cost just 4 mill for 2 years ? Is this a head scratcher as to why we did nothing here ?

His salary should tell you all there is to know about how much the Broncos (and nfl teams at large) value him.

Maybe because he's a 3-4 DE and Dallas runs a 4-3?

What's head scratching is how there is a new thread that is always titled random player name followed by at least 2-3 question marks at the minimum so it always looks like:

*Random player name*?????

Then, the OP will never have stats of the player or what significant contributions they made but will always disappear leaving other forum members to dig up the stats.

We aren't really "desperate". We have 4 defensive ends sure to make the roster and a couple other players (Irving, Thornton) expected to line up outside some.

Plus we have a draft to go, I'm sure we can find a player the caliber of the great Jared Crick in the draft.

To be fair to the OP's argument, one of them might well smoke his way out of the league.

I agree, you still have to account for his roster spot though. I don't know how many defensive ends we typically carry but I would think we only have room for 1-2 more. We have a couple more on our roster that will compete for a spot to go with the draft and we still have interest in Jason Jones.

IF we sign Jones, that gives us 5 defensive ends plus two guys that are expected to play some on the outside sure to make the roster. We also have another couple guys here to compete. We don't really have the room for another JAG. We have the draft to bring in some more competition.
