Just saw that myself... I think it's clear that Denver will not be in the running for TO. Though we need a receiver quick, it might just make sense for Rosenhaus to take a look around, see the lack of interest, then maybe he'll agree to an incentive laden contract.

Wow, now that's intriguing.

Especially if we really are trying to win it all this year.... Could pickup a FS, LB, RT all capable of playing right away....

what #'s are they?

They pick 29th in the first round - so it should be 29, 61.
If I don't miss my guess.

Not in prime picking slots.

They have nowhere to go but up.

They thought when they traded with Washington last year, they'd get a top 10 for that.

turns out we basically drafted Jason Campbell this year, 3 spots earlier....but with a year in the system.

Depending on what they were asking for , I'd seriously consider it in a draft this deep . Picking up #22 and #29 along with our 2nd , 3rd , 5th , 6th , and 7th round picks would allow Dallas to fill nearly every hole .

Wasn't it Washington's 1 and 2 for Denvers 1? or 1 and 3 for Denvers 1? It wasn't a 1 for 1 swap was it?

Actually this years #22 came from Washington last year, Denver traded their first round pick last year for Washingtons first round this year (25 from Denver last year that ended up 22 this year).

The Clinton Portis for Champ Bailey trade previously was a swap for players and Denver got Washingtons second round pick which was an early second rounder in which they selected Tatum Bell.

I think it is the 22nd (from skins) and 29th pick.

That is very intriguing. I wonder what it would cost? I would consider this years 2nd and next years 1st and 2nd.

with the 18th, 22nd and 29th pick that would solve 3 need positions (WR, OT and LB) with the possible drafting of Chad Jackson, Winston Justice and Manny Lawson.

Hm, so it was a 1 for 1.

If they want to trade away their 2 first round picks (#22 & #29) in 06, doubt they accept less for their own 29th pick but might take a 2nd round pick in 07 & player for 22th (got from Skins). Obviously they can't afford cap hit this year but okay next year. A lot of teams will be trying work out some deal and hope Cowboys are doing the same. Would be more then willing to give up our first rounder in 07 for their 29th this year, but what else do they want? Nice to think about happening, but frankly Cowboys haven't shown the creativeness to take advantage of this opportunity (although they got something worked out with Bills to get Julius the next year). I could just imagine how much we could improve with 2 first rounders instead of just one. Repeat of 05 all over again.

Since this topic makes me happier to discuss then how Cowboys doing so far in draft or will be sign TO, here's what I do.

1. A. *With our 18th pick, I select BPA matching w/needed position: OT Justice/Winston/McNeill, FS Ko Simpson, WR Holmes/Jackson (unless we sign WR in FA so we can hold off until 2/3 round)
B. With 29th pick, I'd take either OLB Carpenter or DE/OLB Manny Lawson or even DE/OLB Wimbley.
2. With our 17th pick in 2nd round, I'd select BPA at 1 of the positions we didn't fill with early first round pick.
3. With 16th pick in 3rd round, I'd select BPA who could help us--WR/NT/OL/TE/CB/FS (if we didn't fill earlier in draft)
*If not happy, I'd even try moving down to pick up another 3/4th rounder.

Hey I can dream can't I.

Yep, we all can dream. I think it would be a nightmare not to have our 1st round pick next year.

On the other hand, if we look at a 1 to 1 ratio (which I know is imposible) but it will cost more next year to sign the 18th pick in the draft than it will next year, since the cap will go up again.

Also you would have to look at the projected talent levels of the 2 drafts. Will this year or next year have a better talent level, especially in terms of what each team needs.

That's easy. Just look for the team that has the ridiculous spendings in FA, because stock piling a team with free agent signings always results in a losing season. But chances are, that team won't have any picks to give you the following year.
