I know Brooking's a proffesional and all that but this guy has always played with home in his heart. He's been a Georgia man from the beginning. I figure the guy came over here last year and had a HUGE chip on his shoulder because HIS team (Falcons) gave up on him. The Falcons figured he'd lost a step and groomed his replacement and then released him. Enormous betrayal to a guy like that despite the pilars of rational thought. I think he came here wanting to make a point. When we drafted Lee he saw the writing on the wall that this was no second home but just a pit stop before the sunset and all his fire started to bleed away.

He lost a step before he arrived so it was that vengeful fire that drove his performance last year and he just doesn't have as much of that fire any more. Can anyone say the've seen the same player as last year? This is why I sure hope to see a whole lot more LEE now. I don't care if Lee makes mistakes or gets injured or whatever. He's the future and he should play now and play often so we can see what we've got.

Cause you know what I think he's going to be freaking awesome.

But then again... I'm biased. :D

Actually I noticed that Brooking seems to be having a down year after being better than expected last year. This year he seems to have no fire and seems to whiff a lot on tackles. I was thinking he may be injured and has been playing through it, but I wouldn't mind seeing more of Lee as the season progresses either way.

I think it's time to let the kid play. If you really think this guy was Top 20 talent in the draft, there's no reason he shouldn't get significant time as a rookie.

Just play the kid. And while we're on it, AOA needs to start getting some FS reps so we know what we're looking at for next year. I don't see how he could be worse than Ball.

I absolutely hate our approach with rookies, I detest it.

Absolutely, let the kid play.

why would we continue to play Brooking? Because he is old and slow?
lee be the future.
brooking be the past.

Let us move on.

What approach? Felix and Choice both got significant carries here their rookie year. Marty B got some play. Jenkins and Scandrick got some play. You can't just rush these guys out there if they're not ready. Now in the Cowboys case at 1-5 they have nothing to lose. I understand it now but in regards to projects like AOA? I don't see the point in rushing him out there.

Here's an idea. Why doesn't Lee go out and WIN the job? Or are we going to keep doing the same thing and just hand jobs out to people on the roster? That's the kind of approach that build this soft team in the first place. If Lee can't win the jb then he can't play. Period!

Why doesn't Felix go out and win the job? Why didn't Miles win his starting spot in training camp a couple of training camps ago? Why wasn't Jenkins able to beat Scandrick out a couple of training camps ago?

I didn't say rush anyone, did I? Pretty sure I said "reps" for AOA and Lee needs "significant time".

There's nothing wrong with letting rookies play, especially if you talk him up as much as the team as talked up Lee. I'm not sure I would consider 30 carries as a first round RB "significant carries" either, for Felix. Granted, he got hurt.

Brooking wore down around mid-season last year. He was fiery and chippy...but like with MOST aging veterans that need to be able to run (WRs, RBs, CBs, LBers etc)..they never have much for the stretch because there legs are gone. Even TO did not have much in his last year in Dallas after the 1st half of the season. Football is a young mans game.

At this point, I completely agree. Since we really don't have anything to lose let's see what these guys can do.
