I'm guessing it's the last thing they wanna do........the contract clearly suggests he's their future. If anything, they want behind them asap.

They should do this immediately.

Never should have traded 3 1st round picks for him to begin with.

they wont they made this year only 10mil to avoid that and expect him back next year to be their QB of the future..they also have depth in the QB room they have shown they are prepared to wait on Watson..yes overpaid in money and picks that's a fact..

Wait
An nfl team put language in a contract to protect themselves
Never heard of such things
really?? we tried that with Gregory and Jerry got blasted, wasn't it Poe or the other DL also had clause as matter of fact they have it in almost all their contracts., so not sure what you are saying. ill bet you Watson their qb of the future and they wont void the deal., the way its structured says otherwise. They expected this..

I was being sarcastic
Most contract have clauses in them and especially those players who have had off field issues
But many here attacked Jerry for losing Gregory over the language
They certainly aren’t going to use the clause with him unless there are criminal charges at the least
They paid a crazy price to get him and they aren’t walking away from all those picks

It can't be as simple as one more lawsuit filed to void millions.

Anyone can file a suit for anything at any moment.

And why in the world would the Browns look to renege on the deal? They haven't played a minute of football since. Nothing has changed.

Jerry gets attacked for waking up in the morning and right until he goes to bed at night and while he is sleeping.
He gives to charity, he gets attacked.

Well
They won’t
Done paid too much
These are civil cases
Unless he’s charged with a criminal offense they aren’t cutting him
Once you give that many picks you aren’t cutting the guy unless he is in prison

Well it's entirely possible he misses 2 seasons now.

The 23rd and 24th cases are still pending and he most likely won't play while that's going on.

Then the league will more than likely hand down a suspension once the league situation is done. That could easily be a full season. Maybe even a season and a half.

Plus he didn't play at all last season. So he may not see the field for 3+ years. That has to hurt the development and talent of a player to be away from game action for so long.

Why would the Browns want this headache for 2 or 2 and a half years. They made the move under the belief he'd only miss one season.
