BROWNS LOSE HOLLY

Posted by Mike Florio on May 21, 2008, 2:38 p.m.
The bad news is that the Cleveland Browns have lost starting cornerback Daven Holly to a “serious” knee injury.

The good news is that they still have Leigh Bodden. (Oops.)

With Bodden traded to Detroit for dt Shaun Rogers, the Browns are suddenly thin at the position. And the Philadelphia Eagles suddenly have more leverage in their efforts to trade cornerback Lito Sheppard.

The Browns haven’t disclosed the extent of Holly’s injury.

Did I miss something or when did the E-Gals say that they changed their minds and are now shopping Sheppard?

They were just talking tough so that when something like this happened, they would have leverage.

the browns have nothing in their secondary.

On opening day if we can block em, we may put 50 on the board.

and with their offense they might too.

the browns are a team I expect to see bringing in corners left and right this summer, even before this injury.

Wasn't he their 3rd corner? Seems they could sign Ty Law (or similar) rather than trading a first to Philly.

Holy Cow.

Please don't let anything like this happen to us.
If that S.O.B is in Cleveland on opening day I am gonna be a little angry.

Sheppard kills us.

Ugh, I can see the Browns giving up a 1st too.

of course, if the Eagles had the Browns' first, the Browns would likely have a crap season

Call me crazy, but I'd consider trading Mike Jenkins to the Browns for a 1st. With all the talk of how well Orlando Scandrick is playing in combination with having Pacman (who is going to get his ban lifted), we are beyond stacked at CB. What if trading Mike Jenkins for a 1st gave us the leverage to trade a 1 and a 3 to Detroit for Roy Williams (or Bolden, or C Johnson)?

I know we like the depth at CB, but seriously, we have two all pros, a third VERY capable player in A Henry, and two rookies who we are hearing glowing reports about. They are going to have trouble seeing the field no matter how well they play.

Man, when I first read this I got happy for our Cowboys.....then it hit me, we DO NOT have their #1 draft pick anymore.

I feel rotten right now--God forgive me!

I like my phrase better.

I wonder if we can add that phrase to people's profiles when they anoint 5th round picks as the next best thing?
