Can he survive another week? What other options are there and how long will Jerry Jones settle for such poor play from the coverage units? I have a hard time believing Jerry would spend so much money and time loading this roster for a superbowl run only to have it possibly blown apart by special teams play.

Tonight was just another poor showing. Some thing needs to be done.

I still think our lack of good backup LBs is a huge reason for the problem with coverage. It seems like on every return tackle, I just see safeties (like Watkins) or corners or WRs around the ball.... Other than Cricket, which of our guys win the physical battles after they run down?

And for that matter, our safeties are soft, too. Watkins and Brown are anything but physical. It's a big problem IMO.

They are NOT firing a coach during the pre season, regular season, or playoffs! If they were going to make a change, it would have happened in the offseason!

I wouldnt be so sure...changing the special teams coach would not be as difficult as a coordinator or position...and there were rumblings from the media afetr the Charger debacle that Read might be in trouble

I really wont be shocked if they can him to be honest...its a train wreck

You think he would do worse?

At this point, I think you, me, and about half of this forum couldnt do much worse than what we have seen in preseason.

The ref saved us tonight, if we would have punted the Texans would have got at least 10-20 yard return. That would have set them up about our 40 with a min left and they have one of the best FG kickers in the NFL.

Yeah because teams have NEVER fired a coach before during a season when they weren't doing their jobs correctly.

I don't know if he'll get fired but he darn well should. He's terrible and our coverage teams are some of the worst i've seen. It's embarressing.

I have seen high school teams cover kicks better than we do, it truly is embarrassing.

Our guys cant suck this bad week in and week out covering kicks, so it has to be coaching. If we keep playing at this current level, ST play is going to cost us 1, maybe 2 games this year. That might be the difference between home field or a bye week.:(

Has anyone ever known a person with a chilli bowl haircut to ever be a leader or a person to look up to? Chilli Bowl aka Bruce Reed needs to go!!!! Our special teams needs to be super bowl special.

I guess you like our special teams performance against the giants and this preseason!!!

Dallas' special teams kick coverage units weren't exactly very good last season and nothing has improved this year so far. In fact, I'd say that they've taken several steps back.

The one constant in all 3 pre-season games so far is kickoff/punt coverage teams' inability to break keep the returners contained.

It's amazing how we've gone from the 2nd best kickoff coverage unit in the NFL in 2006 to unmitigated disaster in the span of 2 years. Actually, one year when you take into account last year's trainwreck. The Giants are so superior to us in special teams it's not even funny.

It might be time to insert starters into the ST. I don't see any reason why Roy can't get back out there and cover kicks .... he used to be devastating on ST. Hurd is decent. Brown and Watkins are unmitigated disasters. Bobby is no better than average as is Justin Rogers.

The entire unit as comprised is an embarrassment.
