Showing some stuff yesterday with that 101 int-td. He had some mistakes after that, but its great to know that in a year or two if he continues to develop we will have a playmaker in our secondary.

He did a great job on that play knowing with the Giants running trips right that his man would be running the quick slant and got position to cut off the slant leading to an easy int.

Thats the type of read you expect from a veteran, not someone two weeks removed from the PS.

I think that's exactly the kind of assumption that leads people to be disappointed when a guy turns out to be sort of average and wonder "how come this guys didn't turn into Darren Sharper?" He might never turn into "a playmaker" and return pics for 100 yards every week but hopefully he can fill in in nickel and dime situations, play good special teams, and catch balls that hit him in the hands. That ought to be good enough.

Not really. He was exactly where he was supposed to be. The only vet part was actually catching it, too many guys stone hands it.

Another guy who stepped up and made a big play to seal the deal was Alan Ball. His int was another example of seeing the play and making the correct read and getting in the proper position to make the play. Ball has taken allot of heat and rightfully so but if people are going to give him heat for bad plays then they should be willing to recognize a very good job as well.

Actually, I think he has a point. McCann recognized that what Nicks did when he released off the line indicated that he was not going to run the back shoulder fade, and that is what allowed him to anticipate and break on the route.

Not every corner recognizes the play and reacts quickly enough to make that play. You have to give McCann his due for that one. He gave up some stuff after that too, but all in all he showed some fire out there.

True and in all fairness Nicks made some sensational catches out there as well even with tight coverage on him.

Yeah, I thought he covered well and the PI was a bad call. He did better than I expected for sure! Whatever we can do to get Scandrick out of the slot is good news to me. He just is not good enough. If McCann can plat outside and NEwman can get healthy and play the slot that would be great.

Well I thought Scandrik also had a decent game he played the corner rout very well and knocked away a TD pass he also come up on the run and made some nice tackles on the game. I'm not looking to bench guys right now as much as I'm looking for guys to improve their games. I still think there is a chance to scandrick to develop into a good player for us.

Regardless of where he stands on our depth chart McCann did something I haven't seen a Cowboys DB do in a long time. Jumping routes is risky but I'd rather our guys get beat taking chances - than get beat playing off and the man instead of the ball. Same for Ball on his play.

I thought the DBs did very well yesterday considering how banged up they were, how well Eli and his WRs have been playing, and how little of a pass rush we've been generating as of late.

Yeah, it was also probably cause we played alot more zone yesterday so they were actually turned around to see the ball instead of being in man coverage.

It worked for a game, but Eli's big brother would have cut that zone apart.

Wasn't this the same play they ran against Sensabaugh for a TD when we played them last time.

Best WR on the team.

I think so too. Hands, body control, ability with the ball in his hands.

We've got a strong corps. Did you see that catch RW made down the sideline? Buttery soft hands, just like he's known for. His confidence is up and it's great for the team.

Cas...you have a special feel for things in the secondary. Sometime, if so inclined, do us a workup on current players and directions as you see them in the secondary. Thanks...I'm a linebacker by past. Sometimes, I got left flat footed trying to cope with extremes in dynamics and directions while in the open field. Even when having direction and the sideline as a training aide.

Completely agree. I think that Jason Witten is feeling this since Jon Kitna inherited the role of starter. It was good seeing a seven step drop reintroduced regularly yesterday. That points to many future possibilities that can now be launched upon opponents. The threat of a deep sting as well as the running game excited this fan.

The reception by Roy Williams wasn't lost me. It does create an empty feeling in my stomach when I consider Jerry's tendency to cut costs going into this next season. He now has a plate full of potential money losses that are approaching. Roy could be a cash casualty, and this would cut across grain on Jerry's previous strength of commitment, no matter the cash cow sacrificed. Just worrying here...
