After using the 2016 NFL Draft to boost their offense, the Dallas Cowboys will look to round out their defense in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Despite going 13-3 and winning the NFC East last season, the Dallas defense was 14th in the NFL giving up 343.9 yards per game. They also ranked 13th in sacks with 36 and 27th in interceptions with only nine.
Given the team's list of official pre-draft visits, which features 14 defensive backs and nine pass rushers, the Cowboys would like to see more splash plays on defense next season.
The Cowboys are expected to select a pass rusher or cornerback with their first round pick — 28th overall — Thursday night.
The team also holds one pick in the second round (60th), one in the third (92nd), one in the fourth (133rd), one in the sixth (211th) and two in the sevents (228th and 246th). They traded their fifth round pick (133rd) for quarterback Matt Cassel.
