I predicted the Cowboys would win the NFC East this year. They almost have the division locked up.

Every team in the NFC East lost on December 3rd. The Washington loss in Arizona put the Cowboys in the playoffs. Dallas is the first NFL team to lock up a playoff berth this season.

Next Sunday, the Cowboys can avenge their only loss of the season when they face the New York Giants in the Meadowlands on NBC 5. They will have ten days of prep to avenge that 20-19 defeat they suffered in the opener in Arlington.

The Cowboys final four games of the season look like this:

* Dec. 11 at N.Y. Giants on NBC 5’s Sunday Night Football

* Dec. 18 Tampa Bay (that game could be flexed to Sunday Night Football)

* Dec. 26 Detroit (Monday Night Football)

* Jan. 1 at Philadelphia

The Bucs won today in San Diego and NBC could decide to flex that Bucs at Cowboys game from its current Noon time slot to Sunday Night Football for December 18th.

The current NBC 5 Sunday Night schedule has the Steelers at the Bengals. Pittsburgh is 7-5 and is in the mix for a playoff spot in the AFC. Cincinnati’s having a rough season at 4-7-1.

Right now, the Bucs moved into that final NFC Wild Card spot with that victory over the Chargers.

I can see NBC opting for the Bucs-Cowboys game or the NFC North leading Detroit Lions at the 8-4 New York Giants.

The Cowboys could end up with back to back Sunday Night Football appearances in December.
