Should he stay or should he go?

FOX Sports chimes in with a list of 10 current Dallas Cowboys players who they say need to go. Of course, in the offseason these kinds of lists are fun entertainment, but I doubt the Cowboys are going to turn over this many players, at least this many that receive significant playing time. Still, almost everybody on the list does bear some scrutiny, so I'll play along.

1. Alan Ball - I happen to agree, although he doesn't really need to go. They just need to move him back to a reserve and let him swing between safety and corner, depending on where the greatest need is when the dust settles on the offseason.

2. Marion Barber - I like MB3, but his time is over in Dallas. They should, and probably will, release him.

3. Alex Barron - He's still on the team? Yech...

So he thinks we should let 3 of our starting 5 OLs go? They are SO easy to replace. What a nimrod! :bang2:

Lol, the original list was composed by Fox. And that was commented upon by Dave Halprin, the owner of the BTB site.

By the way, when Fox started out as a news station...it was only for ten hours a week. No one thought they would survive, much less, expand to where they are today.

Jerry Jones.

You can't let go three starting offensive lineman without having someone to replace them. Keep Kosier, and maybe Davis replace Columbo, be looking for replacements for the other two. Williams would cost more to cut this year and no replacement is on the roster. That would just add another need, enough holes on this team because of the ******bag GM as it is.

You honestly think Jerry wrote that blog or subscribes to that theory?

No but I find it interesting everytime I say something about Jerry you are right there.

To help the homer impaired. I was intimating that it was Jerry's fault that these positions were still problems and that were are essentially married to Williams for another year because of his ******** trade. Oh and that Jerry should be number 1 on the top ten Cowboys who need to go.

4. Martellus Bennett - Okay, now we're getting to an interesting one. Bennett has long tantalized us with his potential, and John Garrett (and statistical analysis) say he's a tough run blocker. But his production as a receiver has never materialized, and he's not as versatile as John Phillips who will be returning from injury. Is Bennett worth keeping as a third tight end? I'd say yes, unless you can get a decent trade offer around the draft.

Seriously..... the guys breakout career record setting game of 3 receptions in 2009 came when Bennett was injured. I'm not sure how he has shown he's more versatile than Bennett.

I respond to a lot of silly things. Not just your silly things.

Wouldn't is make more sense to disagree with the piece, instead of writing it as advice to Jerry about 3 starting linemen in 1 year is too many to let go? Especially since the team has made no overtures of doing that?

Is no one actually reading the blog? Or just not comprehending? So here's the OL comments...

Marc Colombo - I've been highly-critical of Colombo's play in 2010, just like most of you have, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to push him out the door yet. I'd keep him for this season, and bring in some competition.

Leonard Davis - No way. Look, he had a bad 2010, no doubt. But I wonder how much lax work habits under the Wade Phillips regime had to do with Davis, and other players, becoming lazy and complacent. The line, and the offense as a whole, looked much better under Jason Garrett's tutelage. I'm sticking with Bigg for another year.

Kyle Kosier - He's a free agent, so the Cowboys could absolutely let him go. But we've yet to develop any depth along the line, so his absence could be something we come to regret. This one I could go either way on as long as Dallas has a plan to replace him, and not with current stock on the team.

So how is anyone getting that he promotes canning all 3? Read beyond the headlines people. ;)

10. Roy Williams - I'd be in favor of this one, too. I'd love the Cowboys to find a nice 3rd receiver who fits into that slot receiver mold. Unfortunately, I don't think Jerry Jones will ever admit to his mistake in acquiring Roy.
The weirdness never ceases to amaze me. There are people in the world who actually consider this would really happen on this plane of existence. It would be like the press conference from The Twilight Zone that would go something like this ...

"Thank you *SMACK* all for coming here today. It's uh ... been an ... um ... honor for
the Dallas Cowboys to have had am um player of the caliber of a Roy Williams.
I always thought he could be a ... um ... catalyst for another
... err ... Super Bowl run, but it didn't happen. The fault is mine.
I'm Jerry Jones and the ... um ... fans look to me and this team to bring back a Super Bowl to them.
I ... umm ... I'm the grocery shopper here
and it's ... err ... time to throw out the rotten egg. Now, I'll *SMACK* take some questions."

I mean, seriously? Forget Jerry Jones for a sec. There are people out there who really believe that there is anyone who would say anything remotely like this BEFORE the person in question was no longer around? Seriously?

Man. There must be more Charlie Sheens living amongst us. :laugh2:

What I posted wasn't silly, your responses however, are puzzling.

It was a comment on the article. The article mentioned letting three starting offensive lineman go, with no back ups on the roster. That would be stupid just as it would be stupid by creating another need by dropping Williams now.

There was a shot Jerry at the end, because it his fault we are in this situation.

Are you being deliberately dense?

It's sensational to talk about 10 players who should go; the reality is to talk about 10 positions that could use some upgrading or prepping for the future.

To talk about Barron being a top guy who needs to go is stupid...the guy didn't play, so why does he need to go? He's a backup who can improve; he sucked in his one performance, but he was clearly (in the coaches' minds) way ahead of the other OT backups...does that mean if we'd started Young or one of the other guys and they stunk, should they be on the top of the "get rid of" list?

Stupid journalism. Backups are backups for a reason...they aren't good enough to be starters, and when they play there will be a dropoff. But if they are the best backups you have, you don't just get rid of them...you try to find guys who are better or groom guys to be better or you work with them to get better themselves.

Miles Austin took a step backwards and underperformed last year...should he go?

The draft should always be about drafting the best players you can whether they are ready to be starters or not, whether there's a strong or weak player in front of them or not. We should always be looking to improve our starters and our backups at every position, but it doesn't happen just because you cut a guy.

Thats an IDIOT list.

First for the most ignorant names on the list, Spears and Koiser needs to go? What in hell for? Both are some of the best players we have at their position. While we may not be able to keep them, to be kicking them out is LAME.

Next, for the slightly less stupid, but still ignorant: Bennett, Gronk, and Roy. Bennett has value and there is no reason to just let him walk. The only reason you let Roy go is money and right now I don't see that happening. Gronk is basically the only FB we have on the team and makes next to nothing. Now what was the reason for dropping him?

Hey Dave, you're being an idiot. Rethink what you're saying.

It was addressed to Jerry Jones.

First two words of your post. Then advice to him.

I read it but I think you are correct and many people are just reading the names. It's a blog in response to the most common names thrown out there to 86.

Baloney. There's no number 11.

I don't love Jerry Jones. I'm just not blinded by his face of the franchise like some of you. You guys make him the great and powerful Oz. I've actually stripped away a lot of his power by exposing just how diverse the Front Office at Valley Ranch is. But naturally when you're consumed with a topic you can't see it for what it is and must make it something else.

Feed the Jerry Jones lust within you I guess.

You know my intent better than me? Got it.

Laughable not just this post but every post you have posted in this thread.

I understand what you are saying about it not making sense to worry about a backup enough to put him in the top 10 of guys that need to go, but considering that we have one starting OT spot that desperately needs a quality replacement and considering we have no real young talent to develop, I don't know that we can afford to use a spot on a guy that is really just taking up space. After what - 5-6 years in the NFL and after being a disappointment with the Rams, and faring no better in Dallas, it seems a bit of a stretch to assume he can improve. As for him clearly being way ahead of the other OT backups in the coaches mind, I'm not sure a little playing time early in the season establishes that - he was just the guy that got the first shot - and whatever sliver of hope the team may have hoped to see certainly didn't materialize.
