On this final mock draft Friday of the year, the vast majority of mocks published over the last seven days have the Cowboys picking a cornerback. But which one?

In today's mock draft round-up, we look at 18 of the latest mocks published over the last few days, including mocks from SI.com, NFL.com, ESPN, CBSSports and many others.

All but four of those mocks have the Cowboys taking a cornerback. Does that end the suspense for draft day? Not necessarily, as the Cowboys still seem to have five different cornerbacks to choose from.

Cornerbacks
NFL.com (Brooks),
Apr 23 Jalen Collins The Cowboys need a long, rangy corner to play the sticky man coverage that is a staple of the defensive game plan under Rod Marinelli.
Draftseason (Falk), Apr 23 Kevin Johnson I think Dallas will be hoping for a top back but at this point seems unlikely. Giving them the opportunity to concentrate on defense and help beef up their secondary. Johnson is a playmaker that could push to start as a rookie.

Marcus Peters
Dallas has never strayed away from character guys in the past, and with needs in the secondary and Marcus Peters on the board, it’s a perfect match for the Cowboys. Peters won’t fall much further than this, if he lasts this long.
Yahoo (King), Apr 23
P.J. Williams
This was a close call between P.J. and Byron Jones. Williams got the nod because of his exposure and play versus big-time opposition edged Jones' elite athleticism. We could have easily gone pass rusher with this selection as well.
E$PN (McShay), Apr 22
Byron Jones
Gordon is an option for the Cowboys if he drops this far, but they can also look to add a running back later in the draft. Cornerback is their second-biggest need, and Marcus Peters is a possibility here, but I'll have them take Jones. His recognition skills in coverage can improve, but he's an exceptional athlete with good size and great intangibles who could really help upgrade the corner position for Dallas.

Marcus Peters
Any defensive pick has to be applauded really. They get Peters who provides the kind of physical edge they want to maintain going forward.

I have taken a look at the "guest list" of prospects invited to Valley Ranch, not an absolute but normally a good indicator, and have narrowed my focus. I don't believe the Cowboys will invest a 1st round pick on a RB (unless Gurley falls), the top pass-rushers are gone, and CB still appears to be the best value at 27. I shifted gears this week to the athletic Huskie, whose Combine numbers jump off the page and match his production.
CBS (Rang), Apr 21
Marcus Peters
The signing of defensive end Greg Hardy only reinforces that Jerry Jones is willing to take chances on players with character concerns if the talent is great enough. Peters is the most gifted cornerback in this class and would provide an immediate upgrade over disappointing veterans Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne.
CSN Washington, Apr 21
Byron Jones
The Cowboys' defense shined earlier last season, yet ranked near the bottom in the league in sacks, rushing yards per carry and rushing touchdowns allowed. The secondary needs help and nobody would argue against a linebacker threat. In other words, this pick should be for the defense. The 6-foot-1 Jones played both defensive back spots with UConn, leading to NFL projections at both corner and safety. Turned in a world-class performance at the NFL Combine with a record-setting broad jump.
CBS (Brugler), Apr 20 Jalen Collins After Morris Claiborne, it's tough to see the Cowboys drafting another LSU cornerback in the first round, but Collins has the size/speed combination that has scouts and coaches salivating.
NFL.com (Jeremiah),
Apr 20 Kevin Johnson After missing out on the top two runners, the Cowboys land some help at cornerback.
SB Nation (Kadar), Apr 20
Jalen Collins
Apparently the opinion that Dallas needs a cornerback is popular. I went with Gurley in my last mock draft, so it was a little strange being the only person to make that pick. In Collins, another stab would be made at a high-upside LSU cornerback. Maybe he could succeed where Morris Claiborne has struggled.
Scout.com (Newberg), Apr 20
Jalen Collins
The Cowboys have a number of needs but could very well go cornerback here. Jalen Collins is the call. He's a big and talented corner from LSU.
Buffalo News (Skurski), Apr 19
Marcus Peters
The Cowboys showed a willingness to take on players with character concerns when they signed Greg Hardy. They’d be doing it again here, as Peters was dismissed from the Huskies in 2014.
Defensive Line
SI.com (Farrar), Apr 22
Owa Odighizuwa
After years of misguided draft strategies and flashpot free agents, the Cowboys have turned things around with a new paradigm of positional understanding and discipline. The rewards have shown on the field, but there's still a need for a top-flight pass-rusher for Rod Marinelli's defense. Unlike a lot of edge rushers in this class, Odighizuwa brings a bit more weight to the position along with estimable speed. He hits blockers with heavy hands, and appears to be the ideal fit for any team needing pressure out of a four-man base front.
CBS (Brinson), April 22 Bud Dupree The Cowboys have lots of needs, but getting defensive talent is the biggest problem for this team right now. Dupree fell further than you'd expect in this mock and Dallas pounces on the athletic freak who could be turned into a rotational pass rusher out of the gate.
CBS (Prisco), Apr 22 Jordan Phillips A power player who fits a need. They have to get stronger in the middle.
Running back
NFL.com (Zierlein), Apr 22
Melvin Gordon
DeMarco Murray's production worked wonders for Tony Romo and the Dallas offense. Gordon allows Dallas to continue along that same path.
