The Cowboys need a pass rusher. The Falcons do too.

It's no secret that the Cowboys are looking for a pass rusher in the 2017 NFL Draft. Jerry Jones and his "War Daddy" comment made sure even people with no clue about the Cowboys knew at least that.

And anybody who watched Tom Brady and the Patriots march back from a 28-3 deficit against the Falcons to win the Super Bowl LI on 31 unanswered second half points knows the Falcons need a second pass rusher to complement Vic Beasley.

Both the Cowboys and Falcons sit at the bottom of the first round, and the premium pass rushers could well be getting scarce by the time the Cowboys are on the clock at No. 28. And they could be completely gone by the time the Falcons are on the clock at No. 31 - right behind the pass-rush-needy Packers and Steelers at No. 29 and No. 30 respectively.

Which is why Tony Pauline of Draftanalyst.com is reporting that the Falcons may be looking to swap picks with the Seahawks at No. 26.

It’s a trade many think will ultimately occur, in large part due to the relationship between Falcons head coach Dan Quinn and his former employer.

I’ve been told the Falcons want to jump ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys to ensure themselves of a top-rated pass rusher. The name being floated as their target is Charles Harris of Missouri.

An early run on pass rushers, and the Falcons as an additional threat to nab a pass rusher ahead of the Cowboys, means the Cowboys may not find their pass rusher in the first round of the draft - unless they preempt the Falcons and move up themselves to the No. 25 spot currently held by the Texans.

At the same time, the Cowboys have said that "this is a real good year for staying put" and letting the draft come to them.

“Doesn’t mean that won’t change when the time gets there. You never know what someone might offer you or who’s there and who’s not, so you don’t ever say never,” Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said. “But I think it is a great draft to be staying put in terms of picking who is there when your time comes there.

“Everybody says, are you really going to stick with the best player on your board, and it just so happens that in this particular draft, there’s a good chance that some of the best players on our board are going to be at positions we get pointed out to as a team that needs this, needs that. I think those positions are going to be there for us and be there in a good way.”

So what say you: Should the Cowboys stay put and take whichever player falls into their lap or should they keep their eye on the pass-rush prize and make sure they get their guy, even if it means trading up a little?
