We have the lowdown on a youth football camp Spencer and Church have planned for July.
Anthony Spencer and Barry Church are teaming up to host the "Anthony Spencer and Barry Church Football Camp" on July 7-10, 2014. The Camp will likely feature other Cowboys players and is targeted at newcomers and seasoned youth players alike and aims to teach individual and team techniques on both offense and defense. The football camp will be held at University of North Texas in Denton, and is designed for players ages 7 to 18.
"The instruction these kids get from the coaches, as well as the various NFL players that attend this camp, is invaluable," says Spencer.
At BTB, we're of course happy to help spread the word about these types of activities involving Dallas Cowboys players, so if you're interested in learning more about the camp, you can request a camp brochure and an application by calling 301-575-9400, or by visiting www.footballcamps.com.
At BTB, we're obviously also very interested in speculating what this camp could mean for Spencer's potential future with the Cowboys. After sitting out most of the 2013 season with an injury that ultimately required microfracture surgery, Spencer enters the 2014 season as an unrestricted free agent. Free agency starts on March 11, so by the time Spencer's camp starts in July, he could have long been signed by another team. So is the fact that Spencer and Church have their camp scheduled in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area an indication that Spencer is planning to stay in Dallas for at least the 2014 season? Or is the location of the camp owed strictly to the fact that Spencer has made Dallas his home?
In little over two months, the Cowboys will have to take a decision about whether they want to extend an offer to Spencer, and Spencer will have to decide whether he'll accept such an offer. What do you think are the odds that the two sides will reach a deal?
Poll
Will Anthony Spencer be a Dallas Cowboy in 2014?
- He's coming off a serious injury, and teams will hesitate to shell out the big bucks on a recoverng player. The Cowboys and Spencer should be able to reach an equitable deal.
- As long as they don't overpay, I'm cool with re-signing Spencer.
- No, we have enough depth at DE.
- Dream on.
