Each week, following the game, the Dallas Cowboys public relations department releases a list of facts that end up taking a back seat to the bigger stories that take place on the gridiron. Thanks to their efforts, let's take a look at some of the things we didn't know that we witnessed on Sunday.
Tony Romo
- Tony completed 34 passes against the Viking defense to run his career total to 2,326. The effort allowed him to pass both Jeff George and Jim Harbaugh for 45th place on the NFL's all time completions list. The 34 completions also tied his seventh-highest personal mark.
- His 337 yards passing was Romo's 43rd career 300+ yard outing. He now has passed for 28,290 yards in the NFL, a total which moved him into the top 50 all-time yardage leader. On Sunday he moved past both Terry Bradshaw (and dropped him out of the top 50) and Ron Jaworski.
- Romo has now thrown at least one touchdown in 22 straight games. That mark is a franchise record. His two touchdown performance against Minnesota moved Tony into a tie for 38th place in NFL history with Ken Anderson. Both men have thrown 197 career touchdowns.
- The game also saw Romo reach the 20 touchdowns in a season plateau for the sixth time in his career. That ranks him fifth all time for 20+ touchdown seasons.
- Sunday's two touchdown effort was the quarterback's 62nd multi-touchdown game. That is a team record by a wide margin; Roger Staubach is second with 48 such performances.
- "Split 'em" Bailey connected on two field goal attempts against the Vikings, raising his career total to 77, which is good for third all time for a Cowboys kicker. Next up for Bailey is the second place mark of 81, which is currently held by the Dallas kicking coach Chris Boniol.
- Bailey also connected on three PAT attempts to claim the eighth spot in team history. He has now converted on 103 kicks and moved to within striking distance of Efran Hererra for seventh place (106).
- Witten, who had eight catches on the afternoon, now has at least one catch in 79 consecutive games. That is the second longest streak in Dallas history behind Michael Irvin. The Playmaker caught passes in 117 straight games. (There is no word on the streaks of those famed Cowboys Whitten and Irving, unfortunately.)
- His seventh catch on the afternoon was a historic reception. With that grab, Witten became just the 20th man in NFL history to haul in 850 catches.
- Bryant caught six passes for 64 yards, not a stellar day by any standards, but it did move him into the tenth slot in on the Cowboys all time reception yardage list. He passed Lance Rentzel and Billy Joe DuPree and tied Jay Novacek with 3,576 yards receiving.
- The journeyman defensive lineman recorded his sixth sack of the season, a career high. The sack also resulted in his first career forced fumble. Teammate Nick Hayden recovered the loose ball to record his first career recovery and his first NFL touchdown. (The bad "rock star" performance will be excused in Nick's case.)
- TWill caught two Tony Romo passes for 33 yards. For the season his totals are now 28 receptions for 477 yards and four touchdowns. He is now 11th on the all time Cowboys rookie list for receptions and seventh in both yards receiving and touchdowns by a rookie.
- The Cowboys cornerback turned in his second interception on the season with his pick of Minnesota quarterback Christian Ponder. This is the first multi-interception season for Sandrick.
- Brown made his debut wearing the star and rewarded the Cowboys for their confidence in him by recording a sack and forced fumble.
