We’re bringing up a FanPost veteran to the front page.
Ed. Note: As we head into the season, BTB has decided to call up a member of the practice squad (the FanPost section) to the active roster (the front page). We wanted to add to our firepower so we’re excited to bring up Michael Strawn, formerly MrMannequin. Welcome to the team, Michael! - Dave Halprin
Greeting fellow BTBers! I’m very excited to join the Blogging The Boys team and contributing to the best Dallas Cowboys site on the web. Those of you who read FanPosts or engage in comments know me as MrMannequin, but I’m using my real name now. As MrMannequin I spent much of my summer chronicling the History of the Dallas Cowboys.
I had no choice in becoming a fan of The Star. Early childhood memories include getting stuck in the fold-up seats at the Cotton Bowl. Cowboys’ games were community events with families gathering together, and kids running around homes and yards. I remember a caravan of station wagons (some featuring groovy wood-paneling) driving to Denton in order to watch a game blacked out on television. My parents were season ticket holders at the sparkling new Texas Stadium. Thanksgiving dinners were scheduled around the annual game.
In short, I was born into a family and a community that cheered only one team and without any thought whatsoever I eagerly became a fan and have remained so for my 52 years.
I moved to enemy territory after graduating from Trinity University (go Tigers!), living in Washington D.C for a number of years. I now live in Charlotte, NC with my wife and daughter.
A review of my past posts will show I try to tell stories through data and images; I’ll continue to do so moving forward. I hope you find these posts interesting and debate is encouraged. Opening game is only a few days away, the anticipation and excitement is palpable. I look forward to chronicling what promises to be a memorable Dallas Cowboys season here on Blogging The Boys.
