It's not like there is a lot of Cowboys football going on right now, so if we can't celebrate the Cowboys, let's celebrate ourselves by looking at the top contributors to BTB over the last six months.
Over time, it's become a little bit of a tradition here on Blogging The Boys to look at some of our key user stats of the previous year. We do this not to revel in our record page views or the number of new members we attract every month. Instead, this is an effort to recognize those community members who have made significant contributions to making BTB what it is today: the best source of Cowboys coverage you can find anywhere.
In this post, we’ll break down the BTB stats from 2015 to honor the most prolific BTB members and recognize them for their contributions. But before we do that, and to borrow a title of one of our most popular weekly articles, here is BTB By The Numbers for 2015:
- 365 days of Cowboys coverage. We kicked off every single day last year with a News & Notes post, and followed that up with an average of 5.3 additional posts every day. Even in the depths of the offseason, we had at least three posts up per day, and hit highs with 21 posts on May 1 and 24 posts on May 2.
- 2,291 total front page posts. 13 different front page writers worked tirelessly over the year to bring you quality Cowboys coverage. For a football blog that covers only sixteen regular season games, knocking out an average of more than six articles per day, 365 days per year, is an awesome job. And just like Sum 41, I like to think that effort was "All Killer, No Filler", most of the time anyway. At the very least, I think we've kept you well entertained.
- 638 FanPosts. 242 BTB members wrote a combined 638 FanPosts last year.
- 869 Fanshots. 128 contributors shared little tidbits of news, anecdotes, and other stuff via our Fanshot option.
- Over half a million comments. If you’ve read every single comment on the front page, the FanPosts, or the Fanshots, you’ve been very busy. In total, we logged 533,684 comments last year, all of which contributed to keeping this a vibrant and interesting community.
Front Page
As a team of writers on BTB, we take great pride in what we do here day in and day out to bring you the best Cowboys coverage you can find.
If you've been with us for a while, you probably don't have to read the byline on most posts to quickly realize which of our writers wrote the story you are reading. Some of us like stats more than others, some like to be a little more critical than others, some like the draft more than others, and some stronger opinions than others. We trust that those likes and dislikes, in sum, have resulted in quality coverage for you.
Here are our numbers for 2015 and how they compare to the previous two years:

Dave Halprin started BTB all by his lonesome in 2005 and moved the blog to SB Nation later that year. Our roster of writers has significantly expanded since, and we now have more BTB writer alumni than we have writers on staff. Some of our alumni still frequent BTB, others have found greener pastures somewhere else; all helped build BTB into what it is today, so a here’s a so here's a Texas-sized hat tip to the BTB Veterans Association. Thanks, guys.

BTB is more than just the sum of the front page writers, much more. While many of us may have stumbled onto BTB via an article on the front page, we kept coming back and eventually signed up because of the quality of our community here. And one expression of that community is our fanpost section, where we get to talk about topics the community wants to talk about, without the constraints of a specific frontpage post.
In his post from 2005, Dave wrote:
For the new reader, you've arrived at a community of loyal, knowledgeable, partially insane Dallas Cowboys fans. We talk about the premiere franchise in all of sports 365 days a year. We invite you to stick around and add to the community. You can make your voice heard or you can just lurk and read all the great Cowboys information on the blog.
Different people contribute in different ways to the community. Fanposts may be one of the most visible forms, but they are not the only ones. Many add comments, often on an almost daily basis. Some of you add Fanshots. And each day, each of us adds a little more to the community.

Just like with the FanPosts, we can only put so many names up here into these tables. But know that your contributions are appreciated, even if your name doesn't show up on any of these lists.

If you've been a part of the comments section here on BTB for any period of time last year, it's almost impossible that you didn't run across one of the fine folks below.

Unfortunately, I do not have access to the data beyond the top 10 most frequent commenters, and can't pull it from our board quite as easily as I can the FanPost and Fanshot data. But I do have access to the top ten across the entire SB Nation network, and fuzzylogic1's numbers pale in comparison to some of the heavyweight commenters in the network.
The most comments in 2015 were put up by a fan of the Mets on the Amazin' Avenue SB Nation Site, who found a way to leave 75,277 comments in one year, or a little over 200 per day. Yowza!
Finally, if your name's not on any of the lists above, but you want to see your name up in the bright BTB lights next year, then simply post more stuff, more often!
Until then, thank you all for your great contributions.
