The Cowboys are addressing a large perceived need at running back by having Morris in for a visit.
Much to the chagrin of many fans, the Cowboys have shown a lot of restraint in free agency so far this year. Of particular concern was the absence of any noteworthy activity on the running back front.
That's about to change, according to a report by Nick Eatman of DallasCowboys.com.
Cowboys expected to host Commanders RB Alfred Morris on Monday.

When Morris comes to Dallas on Monday, he'll be making his first free agent visit of the season, but the visit won't come as a total surprise for many Cowboys fans, as Morris has long been considered one of the second-tier free agent options the Cowboys might be interested in. Just a week ago, our own Danny Phantom identified Morris as a potential good value purchase:
Alfred Morris was taken in the sixth round and looked like one of the steals in the draft when he rushed for over 1,600 yards his rookie season. He followed that up with two more 1,000 yard seasons, but declined in each of them. Finally, last season he didn't reach the 1,000 mark as he only had 751 yards with only 3.7 yards per carry. With Matt Jones now in the mix in D.C., Morris is left testing the market.
On the same day, Thomas Duck explained why Morris might be a good second-tier option for Dallas:
Morris is a powerful and quick runner who is very well versed in the zone blocking scheme that Dallas likes to employ. The one major knock on Morris' game is that he is not a threat in the passing game. Pairing Morris with a back like Run DMC however could be just what he needs to get his career back on track. Interest seems to be low around the league right now, but a runner with 4,713 career yards and 29 touchdowns in his first four seasons should see his market heat up sooner rather than later.
The Commanders haven't ruled out re-signing Morris, but if things work out on Monday, they may have to.
Morris is coming for a visit off a season in which he averaged just 3.7 yards per attempt. Darren McFadden joined the Cowboys after a season in which he averaged an even worse 3.4 yards per attempt. But in 2015, in his first year in Dallas, McFadden averaged 4.6 yards per attempt, and that was just 0.1 YPA shy of the 4.7 yards per attempt DeMarco Murray averaged in Dallas in 2014.
