Cornerback is a position in flux for the Cowboys, could they find help in free agency?
As the deadline approaches for the start of free agency, Todd Archer reports that the Dallas Cowboys have interest in free agent cornerbacks. And one well-known free agent cornerback has interest in Dallas. Antonio Cromartie has been with he Cardinals, but says he wouldn't mind ending up with Dallas. More than that, he thinks he is the missing piece to bring the Cowboys a Super bowl.
"They're only missing one key piece and that's the piece in the secondary," Cromartie said on ESPN's "First Take," and "I feel like I can be that piece to help and go in and win a championship and get the Dallas Cowboys back where they're supposed to be."
This might be just a throwaway line, like with Brian Orakpo's "interest" in playing for Dallas. Except that Archer also notes the Cowboys have interest, too, just at the right price.
The Cowboys have an interest in Cromartie, but, like with every free agent, it will be at their price. The Cowboys have expressed interest in Patrick Robinson, a former first-round pick of the New Orleans Saints, and saw another possibility, Davon House, agree to a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
With so much concern about the Cowboys corners, it's good to know the Cowboys are looking in that direction. They still have to talk to Brandon Carr about taking a paycut and Morris Claiborne still has to recover from injury. In addition, the Cowboys did not tender Sterling Moore.
