The Cowboys bring back one of their own.

The Dallas Cowboys finally made a move in free agency. Today they re-signed their starting middle linebacker, Rolando McClain, to a one-year deal reported to be worth $5 million.

This fills a big hole in the Cowboys defense and gives the Cowboys a little more flexibility in choosing a player at number four overall. There had been a lot of attention paid to Myles Jack in the draft, and while the Cowboys could certainly still go in that direction, this may sway them on that decision.

McClain, when engaged and not suspended, is a very good player in the middle. He's a thumper who also has athleticism that allows him to stay on the field for three downs instead of having to be substituted for in coverage. This will be his third year in Dallas and if he can manage to stay away from things that get him suspended, he'll be an asset to the Cowboys defense.
