The Cowboys continue to look for ways to beef up the secondary by bringing Patrick Robinson in for a visit.

Many Cowboys fans would love for the Cowboys to acquire a cornerback from Florida State in the first round of next month's draft. While drafting Jalen Ramsey would be a great addition for this team, they might want to look at another first-round FSU corner to hold them over.

Former first-round pick Patrick Robinson is possibly paying the Cowboys a visit next week. The Cowboys haven't had much luck landing a free agent cornerback so far this offseason so we'll wait and see how this plays out.

First, Nolan Carroll paid the team a visit, but chose to stay in Philadelphia. Then they brought in Cincinnati's Leon Hall on Wednesday, but he left Dallas without a deal.

Now, they'll take a crack at Robinson. Dallas had interest in him last year when he was a free agent, but he opted to go to San Diego. Last season he had 49 tackles, eight defended passes and one pick. He graded out with a PFF grade of 79.4 which was higher than both Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne.

Like anyone the Cowboys go after in free agency, Robinson is just going to be a guy who can give the team some depth. He's a solid corner who can strengthen the position group.

And he's already made a Cowboys film highlight reel.

Michael Sisemore just recently wrote about Robinson being a good target for the remaining free agent candidates and OCC gave him a high score for the good value free agents. Last month, he made my list for the good value guys list for corners.

Just as strong defenses with a good secondary cast can mask the performance of a bad corner, a horrible defense can bring a good one down. Patrick Robinson was the Saints first-round draft pick in 2010, but never became what they were hoping for. Last year, he signed a prove-it deal with San Diego and now it's going to be hard for the Chargers lot let him go. Be wary of the "Jason Verrett on the other side" factor.

And Ryan Ratty identified Robinson as a remaining target that makes sense:

Despite coming off his best season as a pro, Patrick Robinson has yet to re-sign with the San Diego Chargers. One team that should definitely have interest is the Cowboys. Robinson wouldn't cost much and he's still only 28 years old. While the Cowboys just re-signed Morris Claiborne, Brandon Carr is still a target to be designated as a post June 1st cut. If that happens, signing another cornerback in free agency makes sense and Robinson may be the perfect fit.

Do you think Robinson would be a good add for the Cowboys?
