The Cardinals haven't been the same team that they were in the past. It'll be up to our offense to get a lead and grind out this game by keeping their offense off the field as long as possible. Much will depend upon whether our defense can generate enough of a pass rush to keep Carson Palmer from revisiting his capabilities of the past. Hopefully, the addition of Damontre Moore might find Demarcus Lawrence and the rest of our "rushmen" able to generate enough pressure to keep Palmer off balance. The C'boys should be determined to make up for their less-than-adequate performance last week in Denver. There'll be no excuse for them this week if they don't. They'll come ready to scrap tonight.

Their LT being out and former cowboy john wentzel starting helps

This really is a must-win, to me. Yes, it's "early", but we need to show we can beat the bottom-feeding teams, even if it's in their house. Cardinals don't look good, and it's unlikely they are going to make waves this year. If we are going to make waves this year, we beat this team with relative ease (I added "relative" because I don't want to get too cocky).

I'm okay with a committe. None of our backs pose a major threat, but all are capable of making a big play at any given moment. I would have been much more confident with DJ of course, but fact is we have to stay committed to running the ball. 45 throws from Carson is a receipe for disaster.

It's awesome. I actually get to understand things instead of relying on spreadsheets to do my thinking for me.

Yeah, you're a real Einstein. It's one thing to say stats don't tell the whole story, because that's absolutely accurate. It's another to make the stupid statement that stats mean "virtually nothing". But, whatever makes you happy, Slappy.

It took Arizona OT to put up 16 points on the Colts, and they're terrible. If we can't keep their offense in check, especially considering they're without two of their more productive players, it will say quite a bit about the team and not in a positive fashion. I know it isn't our style, but I think we should send a lot of pressure Palmer's way. A LOT of pressure. He's a statute back there and we need to make him as uncomfortable as possible. We might get burned a time or two, but we should blitz often. After the *** whipping the team took last week, if they don't come out breathing fire tonight, it will also say something about their passion and the ability of the coaching staff to get them ready to play. I think we play well with a lot of passion tonight. We'll see.

Eli was terrible against us in week 1. Stafford was terrible against us in week 16 last year. Winston was terrible against us in week 15 last year, and Eli in week 14. This idea that all QBs look like the second coming of Joe Montana when they play us just isn't true.

Problem is, it's typically the average of below average guys who shine. You know? The Vince Youngs, David Garrards, Trevor Siemians, McCown, Austin Davis etc. They are the ones that shred us lol

OK, here's the deal....

Dak throws a screen pass that goes 80 yards for a TD. It goes down in the stat book like an all-pro 60-yard heave on the money for a TD.

Dak throws a perfect ball right to Dez in Denver, who clangs it into an interception. That counts against Dak as a horrible pass.

Dak avoids two rushers, then gets outside and throws the ball away to avoid a sack. That goes as an incomplete pass, nothing more.

Dak throws a bomb on the last play of the half into the end zone, and it gets intercepted to end the half. That goes against Dak as another horrible pass.

Add it up....

Dak just went 1-for-4 for 80 yards, a TD, and two interceptions. Those are his STATS.

In actuality, he completed a little dink behind the line of scrimmage, hit Dak for a 12-yard gain, threw a ball away to avoid a sack, and took a no-risk chance on the last play of a half.

He should be 2-for-4 for about 25 yards, 0 TDs, and 0 ints.

But the stats say something totally different. Like I said, stats mean vitually nothing.

And like I said, whatever makes you happy. I prefer to live in reality. Stats DO matter. They don't always tell the entire story and can sometimes even be misleading, but to say they don't matter is just dumb. Teams that win Super Bowls don't have poor team stats. They just don't. You have your opinion and I have mine. Let's just leave it at that.

Jeff George had great stats. Troy Aikman didn't.

Art Monk had great stats. Drew Pearson didn't.

When Elway had great stats, he failed repeatedly. When his numbers shrunk, he won two titles.

Losing QBs often have great numbers with all the late trash yardage.

Other than points, I care about two team stats: turnovers and 3rd-down conversion %. The rest is misleading drivel.
