It’s a new season for the Dallas Cowboys. The first half is over, and much of the second half looks like it will be without Ezekiel Elliott. If the Cowboys are going to make the playoffs, they will need the trio of Alfred Morris, Rod Smith and Darren McFadden to do a solid imitation of Ezekiel Elliott. But they aren’t the only ones, there is a whole team of Cowboys players who will need to step up just a bit.

None more than quarterback Dak Prescott. He’s already been doing an outstanding job, but now the team will require a little bit more. He has plenty of weapons, and it doesn’t all have to be passing, his legs can be a valuable weapon. But make no mistake, Prescott will be the key to making the whole thing work without Zeke.

On defense, it really comes down to Sean Lee. Yes, the defensive line has been a revelation this season. DeMarcus Lawrence and David Irving are beasts. But just look at the scoring defense with and without Lee. Check out the rushing yards, and passing yards to running backs, with and without Lee. He runs the show, and as long as he is on the field, the Cowboys defense is demonstrably better.

So welcome to the next phase of the Cowboys season. The part without Zeke. But the goal remains the same, win games, make the playoffs.
