Here are all the highlights from today’s practice out in Oxnard, California.

Welcome back for another edition of training camp highlights, let’s just get the business side out of the way. Here’s the list of guys that did not practice today but these are just some veteran days off:

Not practicing today: Jason Witten, Dez Bryant, Tyron Smith, Sean Lee, Darren McFadden, Orlando Scandrick, Jaylon Smith

It looks as if Dak Prescott is quite excited for practice to start:

Though he will miss the first two games of the season, he’s been the perfect Cowboy since being signed as a free agent.

Damontre Moore entertains the crowd during stretching with some dance moves. Garrett must have been busy somewhere else.

A couple of updates on some guys that have been dealing with a few nagging injuries:

Look at Mr. Twinkle Toes...aka...Terrance Williams.

With all the guys not practicing, here’s the starting defensive line:

The wide receivers had a great day yesterday, they were looking pretty smooth in drills:

Tank Lawrence has really been good in training camp, let’s hope that continues. Here are the edge rushers going through drills:

You could argue that Byron Jones has been the very best player at training camp:

Now, we’re here to show everyone’s favorite part of camp; the compete period!

The defense was doing well for the most part.

Can we talk about Rod Smith? He’s been incredible and super tough to get after.

Zeke came back to make a heck of play, nice throw by Dak.

Uh oh! Mark Nzeocha is about to be in O.C.C.’s doghouse:

Here’s a name we don’t hear very much about, Duke Thomas making a good play:

Guys, these defensive backs have been bringing it on every single play. Seven days in and they’re still rocking with the receivers:

How do I know Marquez White is having a good camp? The coaches put him against Terrance, twice, in those 1v1 drills. He went 1-1.

— David Helman (@HelmanDC) July 31, 2017

Noah Brown gets the catch but White wraps him up here:

Damn, Andy! He just went up and grabbed it from Chidobe Awuzie!

Decent grab, Andy Jones. pic.twitter.com/ooweUG4eKR

This was a pretty confusing but good play, Brown on the sweep? Okay now I see it:

Butler has been quite consistent in these camp practices, he may be in for a solid season:

Another guy who just exudes consistency, Dan Bailey:

— Todd Archer (@toddarcher) August 1, 2017

Speaking of consistency, these two veterans, just chilling.

Lance Lenoir has been showing well as a receiver but his best way to make the team is via special teams, someone may need to remind him:

WR Lance Lenoir continues to drop punts with Cowboys down two rookie returners to hamstring injuries: WR Ryan Switzer & CB Jourdan Lewis.

— Brandon George (@DMN_George) August 1, 2017

Good news! We may have a kick returner for the preseason:

We were two feet out of bounds from seeing @Spags52 impromptu punt return debut.

— Rob Phillips (@robphillips3) August 1, 2017

Scott Linehan dialing up the offense by two-way radio...whatever it takes, I guess:

— Jon Machota (@jonmachota) August 1, 2017

Maybe Jonathan Cooper might have a little competition in ‘Jumbo’ Joe Looney:

Just try and get around Joe Looney. Just try it. He's having a good day in one on one drills.

— Rob Phillips (@robphillips3) August 1, 2017

Like I said when he was signed, Stephen Paea will make you forget about Terrell McClain. Two years with teams like the Browns and Commanders using him wrong has him ready to roll:

Stephen Paea, maybe the most underrated D-Lineman in camp so far, gets around Zack Martin in 1 on 1's.

— Rob Phillips (@robphillips3) August 1, 2017

After two picks, Dak Prescott is staying away from Chido!

Kellen Moore and Andy Jones get denied from the standout corner, formerly of Colorado:

Chido is winning the day after struggling with receivers yesterday. Nice to see the rookie bounce back, here he is taking on Terrance Williams:

After starting out hot then getting cold, La’el Collins is dominating again:

Dez Bryant apparently loves himself some gummy candy...

Fan yells: "Dez we've got gummies!" Dez then does a cartwheel near sideline. Not sure if it was connected.

— Brandon George (@DMN_George) August 1, 2017

Overall, it was by the far the most sloppy practice today with many dropped passes, muffed punts, etc.

Still, today’s camp had some solid takeaways. First and foremost, is how the defense has continued to perform well. Usually, camp starts out favoring the defense but this offense starts winning quite early.

Though there has been a lot of both, the defense is doing something they haven’t been known to do in recent memory and that’s play consistently. That’s certainly been encouraging, stay tuned to BTB for any training camp updates. We’ll be on top of anything and everything.
