The Cowboys will be without the services of their veteran corner for a few weeks.
The Dallas Cowboys won their opening game of the 2017 season, but lost their veteran cornerback, Orlando Scandrick, to a broken hand. The Cowboys beat the Giants 19-3 behind a suffocating defense, but that defense will have to rely on some younger personnel for a few weeks after Scandrick was injured in the first half.

Jason Garrett said in his post-game press conference he is hopeful that Scandrick can return “sooner rather than later.” The injury occurred during the second quarter of the Cowboys win. Anthony Brown took over Scandrick’s role and rookie Chidobe Awuzie was pressed into action for nickel situations.
Scandrick had two tackles before leaving the game. Anthony Brown had one tackle and one very big interception. Awuzie end up being in on four tackles, two of them solo tackles. The Cowboys got solid play from their secondary on the night, including the much-derided Nolan Carroll. Over the next couple of weeks, Awuzie and possibly Jourdan Lewis will have bigger roles, or recently traded-for corner Bene Benwikere could get some playing time.
